My brother had a first gen Cummins that he sold right before I got my license. I was not happy about it. That was one of the first vehicles I remember "detailing" I remember standing in the bed and claying the roof and helping his wax it. It was a beautiful truck. I'll see if I can find a picture of it somewhere
Edit: I found a couple pictures on his Facebook page. These are from 2009.

I did a time lapse of me washing a wheel/tire/wheelwell a couple weeks ago. I used Wheel Cleaner, Tire and Rubber cleaner, and Eco APC. Maybe next time, I'll shoot a video using the all in one. They hadn't really been cleaned all winter so I wanted to use wheel cleaner so It would change colors. Apparently the wheel wasn't as dirty as I thought.

Hey Admins, can this info be added to a sticky on the forum? I'm not sure where it would go but I think this would be very useful, especially for new members. Also, is there any way to find this on the site without having the direct link? I checked here but it's not listed.

Update time...well, more of a stay tuned.

I dropped the Lotus off at ACI Dynamix in Seymour, Connecticut today. The materials are ordered. My car was scheduled for April, but I have a client who’s stuck with the Cornonavirus stuff impacting work for him so we swapped appointments moving me up!

In a week or two (probably closer to two), we will go down to see it. We are going to coat it right in their shop so it doesn’t need to be prepped again and while they have the wheels off. The wheels and calipers will be freshly powder coated and painted so it’s an easy prep.

Then it just needs some inside love quick and will be ready for photos.

I will post pics as I get teasers from them!

That fitment looks perfect. I have 33x12.50 on my SUV and they stick out a ton. It looks cool but it makes it impossible to keep clean. I need to new tires when I get the engine back together so I'll probably go with something narrower.

So here it is...after going to ACI and playing with films, this is the plan.

The color is Matte Sunset Shift from Avery Dennison. It’s an orange that shifts to almost a gold at one end, and red at the other depending on viewing angle. This will save the jams and sills from being attention. Since the film is matte, it will bring out the contours of the body quite a bit.

The image is under fluorescent lights. Outside it comes to life.

We are going to do gloss black on the roof, a posts and mirrors. We are also adding the lower accents of what would be the Lotus Black Pack. So the lower splitter, the lower rockers. You can see what the black pack is on this image.

The calipers will be done in some color on the film spectrum. They are going to be painted and have black lettering. The wheels will be powder coated gloss black and I’ll have new gloss black lug nuts.

All emblems will be replaced with black ones of the same. The hood emblem and wheel center caps will be black/silver logos.

To top it off, it will get a Viny/PPF specific coating from another manufacturer. Two layers on all matte film. A single layer and a gloss layer on the gloss films. And lastly wheels and calipers coated in a single layer (maybe two depending on time).

Just have to wait for the NYC auto show and my car is first scheduled when they come back from that!

This is what's annoying me about these 2 new Ceramic products. Adam's was just bragging about their color coded label system for the Ceramics to help clear up confusion then they introduce 2 new ceramic products with the standard labels. I love the company and the products but this should've been thought about.

If CS3 is CWW and CB, can it only be used once a month? I would want to use WW weekly but CB can't be used weekly because it will build up.

I'd also like to know the difference between this new CSC and the UV CSC. Are they the same just one with and one without the UV? If so, I'm not sure why CSC would be needed without the UV. It's just an added perk to help with application. They have the same descriptions minus the UV part.

I have done it both ways. I've used MRB as the only detergent and used it in addition to ALL Free & Clear. I don't really notice a difference either way. Recently, I have been adding a glug or two to the wash along with ALL and the towels always seem to come out great.

Bscott94 reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Clients and those who detail for dollars.
So it’s been a while since I’ve written, but here I am. A potential customer called (and I’ll call him a customer, because he’s certainly not a client) and told me about his older Cadillac. Apparently it had some paint transfer on it from some kind incident and the inside needed to be cleaned as it was apparently pretty dirty.

All of this isn’t a big deal for us and something we could handle. As soon as I gave him the price, he couldn’t get off the phone with me quick enough.

This interaction got me thinking about different types of clients and how to handle them.

At one end of the spectrum you have what I call value shoppers. They’re looking for the cheapest price and the most amount of work. These customers tend to be difficult to satisfy and maintain clear expectations with. They are also the quickest to run around speaking negatively should anything happen to not meet “their” expectations.

At the other end, you have clients who don’t care about price but care about the service and product. These clients usually come by way of referral and are quick to speak highly of your services and if there’s any issues, they’re handled quickly and without making a big deal. These are critical relationships to maintain.

For us, there’s a difference between a customer and a client. A customer is a single time contact. A client has ongoing relationships with you. They come back. They tell people about you.

The value customer brings up an interesting point too. When a client brings up cost or walks away over cost, do you offer a discount?  We don’t. We let them go. There are other companies that are price oriented, and they’re a better fit for that client.

What we don’t want to do is to train our clients to dictate the cost of our service. We control that based on what we need to make to stay in business and be profitable. Once we start letting the client dictate price, we lose control of our business and profit margin.

How do you deal with different types of clients?

Took advantage of the warm Georgia weather and washed the goat.  I gotta brag on a couple things..... first off, ceramic spray coating holding up strong. Foaming soak of wash+coat, power rinse, 80% of the dirt and grime gone! Loving it! Second foam and wipe down got it spotless.

Secondly, freaking tire armor! I literally just soaked the tires for a few minutes with TRC and then power rinsed.... spotless and shiny!

    Ceramic boosted, shiny!

I mean, I'm no professional and I'm sure i can improve my coating techniques and shining techniques (which is why I learn from you guys on the daily) but if it's this easy for this dummy.... everyone should at least try it!
