  1. Thanks Adam i will give that a shot as soon as the weather clears up here a bit. I have tried to take some pictures but the spots are very hard to see in person and are invisible in pictures. i am sure they were a lot worse before i corrected the paint with the porter cable and thats why they are so hard to see now. i do have a black line on the backing plate and was pressing hard enough to make it go around slowly but i never put enough pressure to make it not move at all. i am going to take your advise and follow you instructions step by step and post back let you guys know the results. thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
  2. thanks guys i guess i am just going to have to keep on working at it but i am afraid that eventually i will get to the point where i remove too much of the clear coat. this is the first time i ever used any kind of machine to detail a car and i know your not supposed to be able to hurt the paint with a PC but if i continue to go over the same spot i would think eventually i will do some kind of damage or go to deep. i have already made 3 passes over the hood once with just the machine polish (which did nothing to my swirl marks) then once with the SHR and orange pad (which got the swirl marks out) then again with the SRH and the yellow pad to try and get the water spots out but no luck. you guys think its ok to hit it again? i am a brand new at this so i am going to go by what you guys suggest and hope for the best. i will try to get a picture of my car so u can see what i mean. i have that scratchx product but i am wondering if its more abrasive then the SHR and if it would be ok to use with a PC. since i am spoiled now i dont want to do this by hand ever again lol
  3. Thanks for the welcome! I will post some pics as soon as we get some clear weather black is a pain in *** to keep up but no color cand stand next to it when its done right.
  4. Hi guys i am a new member to the forum and recently purchased a PC after watching junk mans very detailed videos. The PC worked wonders on my Panther Black Metallic G8 which came from the dealer with a TON of swirl marks and scratches that drove me crazy. The car now looks fantastic but the problem i am having is with what appears to be water spots on the hood and trunk. under street lights and over head gas station fluorescent lights when looking at the hood or trunk at an angle you can see what looks like dots in the paint. i never seen them before until i fully detailed and corrected the paint. i guess they just blended in with the rest of the containments and since those are gone these are more noticeable. you can not feel them even when using junk mans snadwhich bag trick:D so on a test spot i attempted to try and remove them by claying and using the Adams yellow pad with Swirl haze remover and PC on 6. NO LUCK i was still able to see them under the florescent lights in my garage. i found a picture on another forum of my particular problem and they identified this as "type 1 and type 2 water spots". It was recommended to use a product called "scratchX" (which i have) to remove them by hand. However i dont think it is going to work since the most agressive pad with Swirl and haze remover on the PC didnt seem to do anything to help. My friend owns a body shop and offered to wet sand them out for me but i would rather not do that if i there is method or product to correct this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? BTW just incase you guys are wondering what steps i took when detailing here they are. i washed the entire car with dawn dish soap to remove the old wax then i clayed the whole car Followed that with Swirl and haze remover followed by the machine polish then finally the machine wax took me a total of 6 hours. thanks for reading!
