  1. I've seen some crazy detailing at car shows the past few years. Well yesterday I saw a new one at the gas station. A lady went through the automatic wash. After it finished she pulled out and parked. The she walked over by the gas pumps and grabbed a hand full of the nice soft blue paper towels and proceeded to dry off her car. I cringed watching her. I was too far away to see the condition of the paint I can only imagine.
  2. Pizza and beer can chicken on the Weber Performer with the gourmet bbq system.
  3. I've read many stories about bringing your car to a dealer telling them not to wash your car. I totally understand and agree with that. Never thought I would have a similiar issue at a tire shop. I brought my 69 Buick to the local Firestone where I have been many times before. Although its been a few years. Anyway I bought BFG Redlines for my 69 Buick online as they don't carry them. I called made an appt as they said customers do this all the time. They put the tires on which seemed to take forever. At one point I asked when they would be done. He said they are just torquing them down. Another 30 mins goes by and finally my car is pulled around. I paid and when I went out I was pretty upset. They had dressed each tires with some sort of creamy greasy stuff. It made the tire look wet and it was loaded on so much that it flinged on the car. It was all stuck in between the tire and the rim. They never even asked. As soon as I got home I took a cheapo microfiber and wiped off the first layer then I hit it with APC and they cleaned up nice. Never had them do that to other tires I brought there. So something to think of if you bring your car in for tires. Knowing what I know now in the future I will ask "please do not put any dressing on my tires"
  4. Looks like it would work good. I would like to see and extension for the foam block used for applying VRT. I made my own. I found something at the hardware store. It's about a 16" handle that just had a microfiber wrap on it.. I bought it to clean the engine of my F-150 as I can't reach. After I cleaned it I wanted to put VRT on but couldn't reach. So I got some spray glue and glued a foam block on works pretty good. I recently purchases a 69 Buick Gran Sport with a vinyl roof. As a short fat guy I can't reach the middle area to apply VRT. Again I was able to use the thing I made up. Would love to see heavy duty versions. Definatley something I would purchase.
  5. Didn't try covering it. What is the technique for that index finger, thumb. Can't picture it. Been using Adams products for a long time. Pretty much have one of everything and love all the products. This is the first thing that I didn't care for. I just put the old top on for now and washed out the pump. I may try again.
  6. tried shaking it with the pump top and made a small mess. Metal polish is pretty thin.
  7. Just orderd a new bottle of Metal Polish. It came with the new top. I have to say I'm not a fan. Worked fine for dispensing. But in order to close it you waste a whole pump of polish. I thought maybe I'll just leave it up but then I can't shake up the bottle. Luckily I kept the old top. Am I missing something?
  8. First car I did was my dads Black 02 T-bird. Entire car was a mess. I was very nervous but I took my time watched the videos and it came out great. Personally I wouldn't bring it back to them. Can only imagine what method they might use to fix it.
  9. Here is a few pics. Looks like a little more touch up Flash shows everything.
  10. I did some experimenting last night. Used leather/upolstery cleaner with the brush first. Then red pad with the leather conditioner. Even though I believe its vinyl I like the results better than the interior cleaner/vrt combo. Gotta do some touch up tonight and I'll post pics in the next couple days. It's been fun detailing this old car. My 87 was fun but the 69 has years of dirt and wear. No simple spray and wipe. Gotta a good list. Clean and dress tires, polish rims, polish bumpers, polish trim, interior glass, engine bay, etc. Car already pops but is really gonna pop after being Adamized.
  11. Thanks everyone. So far so good. I did the front seat, door panels, and dash last night. I'll post more pics when I finish.
  12. Just picked this car up this weekend. 1969 Buick California GS. Here a few pics. Ones in the garage were after a revive polish and buttery wax. I clay barred the windows, glass cleaner. Interior cleaner on the inside. Still need VRT on the door panels and seats as they were worn from the sun. Did a test yesterday and that is going to work great. Tonight going to polish the bumpers and wheels.
  13. Welcome aboard. McHenry, IL here. Tough question I love all the Adams products. My favorites are Detail spray, glass cleaner, deep wheel cleaner, interior detailer, VRT, car shampoo, waterless wash, rinseless wash, clay bar, all purpose cleaner. . I use all these on a regular basis. Their hand polishes/waxes are great as well as their machine polishes. To be honest there isn't really a product I don't like.
  14. Is it from the wheels on the dryer thing in the "auto wash"???? Not sure if thats the type of auto wash you are going through. Sure looks like a consistent pattern.
  15. I have a Lund Trifold that works well. No drilling simple clamps, easy to remove. A friend of mine has the BAK Roll-x very nice roll up cover with aluminum slats. Looks and works really nice. More pricey than the Trifolds.
  16. I have a trifold vinyl cover. I use soap and water with a wash pad. Then I use VRT to dress it. I've had good luck using waterless wash to clean it as well.

    Fraud

My mother here in IL had recently had someone try and pull the IRS scam. We have a nice service in our county. You can sign up online and the Police send emails with warnings and info about the latest scams. Also we get text messages with any traffic conditions in the area. Luckily she had heard about this scam a couple weeks earlier.
  18. When I wash my cars when its wet I spray detail spray and then dry it. I have hard water and have had some streaks. My last step after the car is dry is to go around the entire car with a double soft and detail spray. Takes care of any streaks or missed water runs, etc. Also makes the paint pop.
  19. Classic Rewind, Hair Nation, and Ozzys Boneyard on Sirius. Also a fan of Five Finger Death Punch, Seether, Fuel, etc. Big fan of Klipsch speakers.
  20. Welcome. Always nice to see another Buick. Looks great.
