  1. Sorry for not being around much, the last six months! Back in Novemeber strarted getting some worlld class gas and indegestion. Went to to base doc, ran some xrays, bloodword, nada. Did a barium swallow and endocscope, nada. Time for the big guns! Did a CAT scan and something vaguley showed up. This lead right to a MRI where a "mass" was found on my pancreas. Two weeks later I am under the knife and a big chuck of the pancreas is removedl Now to wait 2 weeks for the biobsy results. Surgen looks me in the eye and tells me "12 months". This is the kinda news that casues the brain to stop working! Never hear another thing he said, went home and started making plans. Next day I get an appoinment with an oconolgist. See her a week later and informs me I an cancer free. The two of them read the same report and came up with somewhat differing prognosis! To say the least...LOL Anywho, that is where I sit at the moment, Haven;t been to work in 2 months and going a tad stir crazym but they won`t letme back until the chemo the oncologist has scdheduled under the safe then soryy theory. Needless to say the poor ol Coupe has not recueved her spring touch ups! Anywho, thought I would drop a line, Cheers all, Jim
  2. Looks good Len! Only an Adam's user would consider that relatively clean. Anyone else would ask if it was brand new....
  3. Amazing car Dylan! Congrats on getting to give it some TLC! If I ever win a lotto jackpot, there are three cars I WILL have. A Hemi Cuda, a Packard from that era and an Alfa 8C. He didn't have an 8C hiding there as well did he? LOL
  4. AJ was over at the GenCoupe web forum spreading the word just after I picked up my Coupe. Watched his vids from beginning to end. Bought the Junkman Kit the next day.....LOL!
  5. It actually makes a lot of sense. The number of filters out there that are charcoal filters is practically endless. Great idea, and for sure, keep us up to date on how it lasts!
  6. LOL. Nice one. Too true in many parts! But in real life I am with Bill. I'm a firm believer in paying people to do what it is they do for a living. Now if anyone of you have a ring laser gyro or a towed array sonar you need looked after, I'm your guy!
  7. Lucky buggers! You guys can still get 0000 steel wool. Haven't seen that around here for years. Finest out there is 00.
  8. All of a carrier's ammo? That must have been one mothering long RAS. I sailed as the senior sonar tech on HMCS Preserver for two years. Fun times being the gas station instead of the car!
  9. You got that right Rich. There are no words to describe what was going through my mind standing there. My sister, who took the picture, said I didn't move for probably ten minutes. This was taken at low tide and probably 50 yards out from the sea wall that still had the concrete machine gun emplacement. It was at least a 150 to 200 yard adavance over the open beach........ This was the Canadian beach. The two British beaches, Gold and Sword were much the same. Utah as well. Omaha? It sends a chill down my spine even now thinking of standing there looking up at that bluff.
  10. Seems like there are a bunch of new members so time to renew this thread! Probably my favourite pic of me, mainly because you can't see my mug...LOL!! This was taken in June 2000 on the D-Day Juno Landing beach.
  11. You need one more pic Dylan. The look on his face when he sees it. Great work as always and as we have come to expect. Everytime you do a step by step on one of your projects I pick something new up.
  12. Water damage just sucks! A bud of mine from my last ship can relate. They just finished building their dream home, really nice two story Cape Cod. They went away for the weekend and got the neighbour to feed the cats. Neighbour calls them the next morning to come home. One of the up stairs sinks was not plumbed correctly and the overflow was blocked. One of the cats managed to turn on the faucet with the paddle type controls they used. Water probably ran for at least 12 hours. $50,000 insurance claim later...... The cats survived only because he wanted to remain married.......LOL
  13. Ha! Nice. My dad built a 26 footer in our driveway. Bought the hull and deck and went from there. Took about a year. There are a couple pics in my photo gallery here, including my favourite of dad at her helm.
  14. There are other hobbies/obsessions? I guess so, since I looked next to my Adam's stockpile and saw my mound of paintball gear! I love the comradarie of the game. Dad's out spending a Sunday with their kids. The kids trying to shoot dad.....LOL At present I have eight guns, ranging from high end electronic guns to 15 year old pump guns. I love playing all styles and lucked out to hook up with an incredible bunch of guys who feel the same way. The team mottos say it all, "Woodsball or Speedball - It's all Paintball to the Tippinators" "Shake hands, play hard, have fun, make new friends, remember that it is just a game" I couldn't be prouder of my paintball brothers. I had a heart attack during dry land training with the team a few years back. They could have made all the proper noises and in the end left me high and dry. But that isn't how these guys roll. With competitive play out of the question, they allowed me to find my own new niche with the team. Playing recreational ball on weekends, helping to run big games, charity games, working the pits during tournament play, reffing the woodsball league we run. As much or as little as I want to add. There is a reason that the world's largest paintball gun manufacturer, Tippmann Sports out of Fort Wayne Indiana has made the Tippinators their Canadian Factory Team. It's not the level of play, which is probably semi-pro, but the incredible attitude of these 22 guys. http://tippinators.com/index.php/home Four of my collection, from top clockwise. Heavily milsimed Tippmann A5, Palmers 2KS Blazer (my baby), Tiberius Arms Tac 8 and Tippmann SL-68-II pump gun. All four made in the USA!
