  1. Hey All, I have a 1967 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible that has been in the family since new. It has always been garaged and never seen snow which is pretty amazing here in Western NYS. It was last repainted about 33 years ago with DuPont Lacquer and topped with a clear coat. The paint is in OK shape and there are a few scrapes and scratches. I have only made a couple half hearted attempts to bring back the best shine possible. I could really use some sage advice on how best to restore its luster and what products to use. I do have a Porter Cable 7424XP and a Mini Swirl Killer that I am very comfortable using on our newer cars. Thanks in advance for your time and your expertise. Mike
  2. For me, I did get the adapter as suggested but it still leaked under pressure. I ended up buying a compact Greenworks electric 1700psi pressure washer from Lowes for $99. I had a $100 rebate debit card from a recent tire purchase. It works great with no issues and, especially, no leaks. I am disappointed with the connections issues with the Portland pressure washer but will hang onto it for other household cleaning needs.
  3. Thanks for your replies and suggestions. i have an email into Matt at Obsessed Garage waiting for a reply. Thanks again, Mike 👍
  4. I could really use some help from our Adam's Polishes Forum Family. Over the winter I purchased a Portland 1750 Pressure Washer to go with Adam's Foam Cannon and Snub Nose Pressure Washer attachment. Now that the weather is starting to warm up (sort of) in the Northeast I'm ready to put everything to use. The problem is the hose that came with the pressure washer is, for lack of a better term, proprietary to that machine. The connection to the pressure washer has a longer 'nipple' than a standard pressure washer connection, and the connection at the wand end is 100% specific to the wand that came with the machine. Once I realized part of this issue, I ordered a new pressure washer hose online and that's how I figured out the problem with the 'nipple' connection to the pressure washer. I am looking for everyone's help and suggestions to figure this out. I'm really looking forward to using the Foam Cannon but need to figure this out. Here are some pictures for reference - the pressure washer, the hose with the long 'nipple' that came with the pressure washer, and the new hose I purchased online. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Mike
  5. Thanks Rich. What type of hangar are you using? A hose reel type hangar?
  6. Thanks Josh. Fingers crossed for warmer weather soon.
  7. March 30 Good Morning, I finally had the opportunity to unpack and use the Adam's Premium Hose I purchased during the winter. First, I have to say, it is absolutely made of premium material. It is extremely difficult to unroll and roll up again. After getting it unrolled, flat, and straight I went about washing the cars. It continued to try to resume it's rolled up position which is probably inherent to the rubber and having been rolled up in its packaging for awhile. When trying to roll it up and put away, it has a mind of its own. I'm hoping as the weather warms up it will be easier to manage but, right now, I'm somewhat regretting that I bought it. I am open to any and all comments and suggestions. I know it's a high quality product but I don't want to 'fight with it' every time I want to wash the cars. Thanks much in advance, Mike
  8. I have started to experience the same 'linting' issue recently with my single soft and double soft MF towels. This happened again to me yesterday. I clayed the area first and wiped it down so it wasn't still really wet and to remove any floating contaminants. I hand applied Americana paste wax and allowed to set for a short period of time. Both single soft and double soft MF towels seemed to 'drag' when removing the wax and leave lint. They are stored in the plastic Sterilite box with latching lid. I use only Woolite to wash them on delicate in warm water. I first use the soak cycle on the machine then a short cycle with cold water and cold rinse. They are line dried in my basement. I think I am doing everything correctly to get the longest life and continued high quality from them. I have only rarely heard of boiling MF towels. What is that expected to do for them? What are the correct steps to do that. Thanks much in advance. Mike
  9. Thanks Jason. I was planning to upgrade to Adam's Foam Gun and didn't realize it previously came with a smaller bottle.
  10. Does the Gilmor (ah hem) liquid container fit the Adam's Foam Gun? With the new larger container from Adam's, being able to swap the small vs large containers based on vehicle size would be pretty sweet. Thanks, Mike
  11. Thanks guys and gals. I was just taking inventory this weekend and thinking I'd wait for a Labor Day Sale to stock up, then a 'Summer Stock Up Sale' is announced. Absolutely perfect!!! Order placed. Mike
  12. Thanks Dan. It took a few minutes for it to make sense even with the picture. What is not really seen in the picture is the 'tube' that connects the wheels together - similar to an axle - that comes with the wall mount bracket. When looking at my Master Blaster, there isn't a way to hook it on the wall mount without some modification, but the tube provided when attached between the wheels appears to do the trick. Thanks again. Mike
  13. How does the Master Blaster hang on the wall mount bracket? I thought I read somewhere it was by the wheels but not having a bracket for mine, I can't picture it. Thanks all. Mike
  14. Welcome back Dylan. This time of year 'miracles' do happen.
  15. What do you mean you had the Terrain undercoated? As in you paid for one of those shoddy dealer services? No - LOL - I did not pay for one of those shoddy dealer services. I had it done at an independent shop. Even being careful during application it's gonna sling some of this stuff. I'm very 'old school' and even though modern cars are far better protecting from corrosion, it's an investment in the vehicle for the long term. Thanks for the chuckle, and the info on WD-40. Mike
  16. Another chrome clad wheel question...recently had the Terrain undercoated with the petroleum based stuff. Some of it is on the wheels. The 'shop' says WD-40 will take it off anywhere it was over sprayed. I'm not so sure about using WD-40 on my wheels. What do you think? Thanks - Mike
  17. That's great Dave!!!! Thanks for sharing. What a great experience. That's like automotive heaven. Mike
  18. I'm sure the interior is simply vinyl but the brochure refers to it as 'expanded Morrokide'. Sounds pretty fancy - huh? I've attached 3 more pics worth sharing - a page from the original sales brochure, the original window sticker, and the original owner's manual with the maintenance manual and Protecto-Plate with my dad's name and address. Thanks for the kind words too!
  19. This car was purchased brand new literally off the show room floor by my parents when I was a 4 year old rug rat. I actually have some snap shot memories of seeing it at the dealer in the show room when my parents were buying it. For some reason my dad just can't explain, he traded his '65 Impala SS for the Bonneville. AND, for some other reason, he never drove the Bonneville in the winter. It was their only car at the time, but he got a beater for going to/from work. It was always garaged and covered with blankets. Fast forward from '67 to '87 when I returned home from the Air Force. My dad and I teamed up to start participating in local classic car shows. I joined the national and local chapters of POCI (Pontiac Oakland Club Int'l) and actively participated in the local club. My parents were given honorary membership in the local chapter. I was the youngest member - go figure. The Bonne was still in great shape - paint, top, interior, etc. Dad and I started with detailing the engine bay. Pretty much everything else was almost brand new. Keep in mind, she only had about 52,000 original miles at this time. In the meantime, I met my wife to be and we married in '91. Thankfully she was a really good sport coming to car shows and even bringing her parents. We remained active in the local POCI club and car shows while we started our own family. Our daughter joined us in '93 and our son in '97. At this time we found it really tough to remain so active with the Bonne and the club. In the early 2000's, my job required a lot of travel (like 75%) and time with the family was precious. In about '08, I put the Bonne away in my parent's garage for its last drive. My dad would start it occasionally, but that dwindled down to nothing around 2010. The last 2+ years were challenging with my parent's --- my mom passing away unexpectedly in 2012 and my dad having to go into a nursing home in 2013. Thankfully, my love of the Bonne was recognized by my parent's and my dad signed the title over to me. With my parent's house now empty, it came time to get the Bonne out of their garage, and up and running again. My buddy's father has his own car repair garage and he had previously owned an Oldsmobile dealership. With his father's blessing, my buddy and I tackled everything that needed immediate attention to make her safe and drivable for the rest of the summer. After 2 weeks, she's on the road again and running better than I can actually remember. These first 3 pics are from 2010, but the top down pic is the day we dropped her off at the repair garage to begin her resuscitation in early July. At his point, there are only 56,600 original miles on the odometer. Needless to say, I'm like a kid in a candy store. I haven't stopped grinning like an idiot for days. Starting this coming weekend, she begins to feel the love of Adam's. (Any suggestions on how best to clean and maintain the 'Expanded Morokide' interior is greatly appreciated!) Thanks for bearing with my long post. This car has been part of my life for almost 47 years now, and I have a lot of very special memories. Mike
