  1. Adam, Congrats!! That sounds like a great idea! Keep us posted as to a date as I would like to visit.
  2. Thanks everyone! As soon as I can get the Power Stick, I will give it a shot and see if it does the trick.
  3. Just posted pics in my album of the beast. I will try some of the recommendations including the paint stick and rag. Might wirk on the fronts. The dealer I go to, the mechanic is a personal friend and a corvette nut and he treats my car better than his own, and I get to watch everything that goes on including pulling the car myself on the lift etc.
  4. They would have to be easier than my C6 Z06 wheels which have plenty of clearance. Could not give up the BEAST!!! Way too much fun!!!
  5. Thanks for the replies! GM refers you to the owners manual and in the case of the ZR1 to the General Tech Bulletin we got with the car that says apply no chemicals to the brake rotors. I will use plain soap and water as they recommend, but when you have narrow spokes, it is hard to get in there. I like the idea of using a sponge paint brush. It will work great on the back (Plenty of clearance), but the front has barely 1/2 to 1 inch clearance from the wheel to the edge of the rotor so will be tight, but worth a try. I guess could have the dealer pull the front wheels off next service and clean them then. Appreciate the input.
  6. The C6 ZR1 has carbon/ceramic rotors and GM does not recommend using cleaners due to causing damage to the rotors. The spokes are close together and the rotors are so big, they are close to the rims leaving very little clearance. I cannot get my hand or a brush in there to clean the brake dust even with just water. Short of jacking up the car and pulling the wheels off, does anyone have any suggestions on what might work to reach in this tight space to clean these wheels without causing damage? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  7. I have a question for any Adam's member. I was told by my GM dealer that if I use any chemicals including the detail sprays on the carbon fiber under the hood of my 2009 ZR1, it will damage it and cause it to turn milky. The tech bulletin I got with the car says I can wax it and use a wax remover to get any wax spots left in the pores which does not make sense. Is there any chemicals in the Detail spray that would damage the finish on the carbon fiber? Any info would be appreciated.
  8. Kevin, it is a beast! The only time I got to drive it, it far exceeded my expectations! The paint seems a better quality than the 06 Z06 I have. I wonder if the Adam's Detail Spray will harm the clear panel in the hood. They also recommend using a black colored polish on the carbon fiber as the light ones leave white spots in the pores of the carbon fiber. Hopefully the Adam's crew has some insight into this.
  9. Thanks for the tip Doug! It looks perfect now and I seem to get these little scratches everytime I use the Porter-Cable, I just hate to use it until I figure out what I am doing wrong. My wife first pointed out the blue tint in the sun light, it is better than the pictures show.
  10. Rich, I haven't even had a chance to drive it myself since it was delivered to my home in VA. It snowed the day after I got it and has been raining.
  11. Adam, It has been nothing but snow and rain every time I have time to work on the car since November. I made a purchase of a 2009 Corvette ZR1 in Cyber Gray as a stable mate for my Z06, and want to make sure I have this process perfect before I use it on this new baby. Nice weather appears to be coming, so I will be giving you a call to help me out if you would please. Thank you for your time, I appreciate it with your busy schedule.
  12. Gerry... I use a spray of detail spray on the pad. I spread the polish around and worked very slowly alternating directions, but not working. Like you said, trial and error. Adam, I appreciate your thoughts, will try your recommendations on another day as got called into work... Will post when I do give it a try again. Thanks for your help...
  13. I am frustrated... I purchased the Gen 2 system and finally had a good day to work on my Vette... I tried everything that was recommended in this posting to get the marks out of my black paint and it actually looks worse . After battling this problem for over a year, my hats off to those who can get this to work . I have tried using the orange pad with swirl and haze remover and worked to the white pad. I tried just the white pad and the polishes. I tried less polish and higher OPMs as well. I worked very slow with pressure until polish broke down and no success. Open to suggestions at this point.
  14. Thanks! I will start with the orange pad and then to the white pad. Appreciate the info.
  15. Isn't that the truth! I appreciate the help and look forward to the info from this site. Happy Turkey day everyone!
