  1. This was the time it clicked for me, after I got done doing my mustang that was VERY bad when I got it. I have done many before on some crazy cars and I am always proud of my work, but this one I stepped by and went holy crap and I got a lot of business when I posted it up on FB when I had it and random people walking down my street saying wow that looks great.
  2. I know this is probably a stupid question, but do I throw the sandpiper I just used away or can it be used again? If so, do I just hang it up to dry?
  3. I have a few body panels off my car that I got when I purchased that will either come out great and I can sell them or I mess up and take them to the scrap yard. Lol.. thanks Adam. I will be looking for that video as well
  4. Where can I get a good clear coat thickness gauge? Yea Chris, I been looking at them all day, but figured I would post up on here with some great detailers knowledge that usually doesn't find its way to YouTube or other sites
  5. ell I know how to use a buffer/flex/pc and am very proficient at it, but I still find some things I am not able to correct 100% and what would fix those that I can not get I believe can be achieved with wet sanding and then buffing. I wanna learn how to do this. So when I bought my car the guy asked if I wanted stock spoiler and hood so I took them and am going to use them as my practice pieces. So if I mess it up, I mess it up. So I have to start somewhere and I have been doing some searching and looking on techniques and products, but still looking for more information. So what are the do's and don't s of wet sanding? How do I know too rough is too rough? What kind of technique do you have. Smaller area the better?
  6. Okay, so I did my car this past weekend and it came out great All my scratches and such came out except on my wing. I am going wingless with my car so this gives me the perfect chance to learn how to wet sand. So give me the low down. What grit do I use or start with? I assume im spraying water? Is that just to keep the surface cool? how much spray? just a few sprays? Do it by hand and finish with my PC to get the sanding marks out? I have never wet sanding before, but I cant think of a better time to learn.

    Battery Powered

Okay, since I moved and rarely ever have access to a garage to do everything I need to do, I find myself taking my three buckets, and all my adams gear to a coin op and doing my car there. I do the wash properly still, but the thing that I can't do is dry it completely, meaning inside the turn signals and mirrors, etc.. I always used my mini air blower but its not battery powered. So do I have any options as far as something battery powered that I could take with me? I didn't know where else to put this question.
  8. Yup. He had 1200 miles left on his warranty.
  9. I had an 06 AWD and liked it when I had it, but glad i got rid of it. The cost of maintaining it and driving it just wasnt practical enough for me to keep it. I doubled my mpg and cut my maintance cost in half going to my subaru and it runs just as good if not better than the SS. Things you gotta watch out for have been stated Tranny is weak add more oil if awd to prevent the oiling issue crappy mpg high cost of maintanence cost of filling up at 93octane But other than that I did like mine when I owned it, that being said. If I ever have kids and me or my wife need an suv, I would look into buying one or a Jeep SRT-8. Friend at work also has an 06. His spun rod bearing and blew up tranny.
  10. I like them! Wouldnt change a thing
  11. I have 4 buckets. And use two soap mits 1 bucket (from advance auto) for wheels 1 bucket (5 gallon adams) for rinse 1 bucket/mit (smaller adams) for soap and wash of top half of vehicle 1 bucket/mit (smaller asams) for soap and wash of bottom half of vehicle The cars I own and do, dont have mudflaps usually so I dont trust using my top half mits on the lower half even after I clean and grit guard them so I have specific mits for top and bottom and buckets to match them so nothing ever gets mixed up.. Everyone who watches me detail a car calls me crazy and over the top
  12. I shoulda went flex, but im not unhappy with the PC, but after using it and seeing the ease, I definetly should of went flex
  13. Thanks Dylan. That answers my question.
  14. I have had my PC for about 3 weeks now and used it on my cobalt ss I just got rid of with great results as the the paint was bad but not terrible. Well I got rid of it and ended up with a 02 Mustang GT that is black. So everything is shown alot more and with it being 4yrs older the paint is alot worse as far as swirl marks and some scratches. I did the fender and FINALLY got it to where I thought it was very good, not perfect, but better than just good. Now where I am confused on. I see people say I had to do x passes with x product. So I am confused what the definetion of passes do you guys use? How I did it was I went through the whole process about three times. I did green, orange, white. Then green, orange, white again. Wasnt happy and did the green, orange and white one last time and was happy. Then sealed it up. Did I do that wrong? Should I of did green until I couldnt see the scratches I could see and then go to orange and so on? or Did I do it right? 2nd question. Me knowing that it takes three passes to get the paint where I want, Do i know go over the panel three times green, three times orange, three times polish? or repeat what I did in the 2nd paragraph? Im starting to think I either shoulda went flex (but worried this was my first machine) or Im doing something wrong. Here is what I came up with. I did the fender but not the hood yet
  15. I noticed that as well. I ended up buying the pad brush and do an area use the brush and you can definetly tell the difference.

    New Ride

Another big thing that came into play was price. With my looking to buy a house asap. I did not want to add alot if any debt to my name with me knowing that is looked at closely when buying a house. So with the cheap price, able to get rid of the cobalt and completely cut ties finally after 3yrs with an ex gf. It was hard press to pass up

    New Ride

Yea, Im not a huge mustang fan, but i wanted something that would be a nice cruiser and wanted to unload my cobalt ss as well and there was really nothing around local and I didnt wanna go crazy distances due to having my ex on the title (big mess there) so my friend who is a car salesman was able to help me out with all that and the paperwork so that she would be able to sign her part off it. And the GTO i was set down there to buy sold while I was driving down there. Oh well. I mean its nothing fast but not too slow. Its a nice cruiser which what I wanted. F-body 370 with turbo will be good enough for track and going fast lol

02 Mustang Gt, 75k miles, premium with mach 1000, 5spd, black with dark grey stripes Mods: Mach 1 grille delete and chin Tinted head and tail lights Lowered on H&R springs short throw shifter Borla Cat back exhaust C&L intake Elbow PP throttle body BBK fenderwell cai Aftermarket clutch (was told spec) but idk for sure Plans that will actually happen: tint the windows do a full detail on it either change the catback or put an o/r mid pipe on it Plans that are bouncing in my head: Tork Tech with a 03/04 cobra blower different wheels All black paint it got real dirty from the drive up the mountain last night as there was snow and mud. And i really didnt want them doing a wash or anything on it again after i seen the first one they did when I test drove it on saturday. I rather do it myself.
  21. No its not ... Actually the GTO sold while I was driving down there and they had this there. And after I tried finding another one local, that was a stick and found only one that was WAYYYY overpriced. I just decided on this one.
  22. Got done with the paint correction and I think I went alil too far!!!
