  1. Hey guys, I should make clear the product is nice, I just am not sure it was worth the big price tag is all, what got me was I figured everyone was like Adam's which is if you aren't happy send it back, I just happen to find out today that is not the case. Guess it made me realize you have to be careful with other companies but at Adam's you can buy with no worries which is nice. I simply wanted to just express my appreciation to Adam's for the way they do business. I am ok with the other company NOT doing it that way, just kind of surprised me a bit, guess cause i'm used to Adams
  2. I've been an avid user of Adam's Buttery Wax for years and it is still the easiest wax I've ever used. So like most detail junkies, I branched out and recently picked up a very expensive wax from another online company and did a small test area, and to me it didn't even begin to live up at all to the huge claims it makes, and certainly no better than my old faithful Adam's wax. Obviously this is a subjective area but with the exorbitant cost I feel like it should have been a lot better is all, guess I got caught up in the hype. So I sent an email and asked about any satisfaction guarantee and was told I used it I bought it and I should have purchased the same companies "prep" product even though my paint is flawless and was prepped just not with their's. Ok that's fine, but this made me really appreciate how Adam's stands behind their products, even though I've never had to take them up on it, so thanks Adams for caring about your customers "experience" with your products, and not trying to sell them something else if they ever have an issue with anything
  3. Hi Everyone, I have the full kit from Adam's but it is a couple years old at least so it is the older style pads not the new ones they have. I have a green, orange, white and black pads. I was just wondering how big the difference in the "cutting" ability of the actual pads is, between say the green, orange and white, or are they very similar and it is more the liquid compounds that do the cutting that are different? Also is there ever a reason to mix the compounds with different pads outside the color code system, like using swirl and haze say on a green pad, or fine machine polish on a black pad or is that a definite no no? If it is not advised could someone tell me why or why not, just trying to gain knowledge. Last question is about the black pad, this if I remember correctly is a wax pad correct? I have buttery wax and it is so easy to put on I've never used the PC2474XP with it, is there any advantage to using the pad for the LSP step? Thanks for any clarification.
  4. Ok, then I'm just being too cautious I guess, I'll keep working at it. Cool thanks. Yes this is what I'm thinking, it was awkward to me at first and I was unsure of how to do it honestly. The hood is so large it was very cumbersome to get at it all effectively. I'm actually doing this a little different then the way you are suppose to. I have a rinseless wash that I made into a waterless wash with distelled water. I use this solution and really presoak the panel, and when I mean pre-soak I mean a lot of product. I had to refil my Adam's bottle 2.5 times on this car. The reason I spray so much product is because then I use my microfiber mitt in my bucket with grit guard of plain water, get it really wet then spray it a couple of times with more WW then proceed to wipe the panel gently going back to the bucket after every pass and rubbing it on the grit guard. This is where all the time is coming in I think, I'm just nervous to keep going more than one, maybe two passes without rinsing. With the amount of product I'm using though, I would probably be fine to do more. I'm probably wasting a ton more than I need. The rinseless product was suppose to be dilluted 4oz to 2 gallons, I used the whole 34oz bottle to 1 gallon of distilled water to make a very slick Waterless Wash..
  5. I decided to try it today b/c I hate spraying water at my car that it doesn't have a top or windows. I used a waterless wash to pre-lubricate each panel then used a rinsless solution on a microfiber mitt. The results were really good but it took me longer than a traditional wash and seemed like more work, am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is? I guess I always thought this method was suppose to be faster but it sure wasn't for me. Not sure I'll stick with it or not, I really want to on this particular car only, the daily drivers I'm not worried about washing so much. Here are some pics after getting done, I did like the fact that there was not excess water everywhere like normal, it takes forever for it all to come out when I hose it, plus it gets places it is not suppose to so I'd like to get good at this technique. It appears that it didn't swirl the paint, although I have some micro marring anyway so can't be 100%, but I don't think it did:
  6. Thanks for the replies. Yeah it is just all the grime that I worry about, it turns towels black and then I worry about re-use even after a wash, but I guess it is ok. I have a towel or 2 that I designate as dirtier so I try not to use them anywhere except on the worse grime places (fender by the forks and behind front wheel).
  7. Hey all, I have a question for some of you detail experts. I am using waterless cleaning to clean my Ducati b/c it is sensitive to water but just not sure how to do this the most correct way. I mean take the bugs on the front after a ride at sunset. I've been just spraying them down and letting them sit a while, then a wipe to get most of them off and find a new section of rag and repeat, is this the best way? What do you all do with your rags when they are covered in bugs, it would get way to expensive to just toss them, but I don't want to use paper towels or something that would scratch the crud out of my bike. The other area that is of concern is behind the front wheel where all the road grime comes from, yuck, the rag will turn black after a pass sometimes. I guess my real question is putting these rags in the wash sufficient to remove the bugs/crud I wipe into them? Thanks for any advice! Here she is at the track:
  8. Thanks for the post, seems like to me though based on that info "The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage..." that the hint of wax would/could be a good thing, although I'm just guessing, anyone else have any opinions?
  9. Great thanks for the answers, yeah I didn't even think about it eating wax, duh lol...
  10. Cool thanks guys, doesn't the glass cleaner have alcohol though which would be a no no on iPads? What I love about the ds is that finger prints seen to not become so bad so quick with it!
  11. Just wondering b/c I used it today to clean my iPad from fingerprints and smudges and it worked great, but I know I'm not suppose to use anything with alcohol so thought I'd ask, anyone else use this stuff on your iPad screen?
  12. I still dont see it could be wax build up for 2 reasons: I've only waxed the car once since paint correction and before glazing and waxing this past time I clayed and corrected with orange and white pads, wouldnt that have removed everything? The only thing that is plausible is I didn't get all the polish off before glazing which was why people suggested ipa which I will do.
  13. Certainly do not take it in a negative way, and I guess you are right, I guess I was falsely assuming from Adam's post that something "funny, ha ha" was happening, not the now obvious "problem" that must have happened. Fact is I love AJ and what he does for the detailing community, I was a follower of his long before I knew what "Adam's" was. In fact, THE ONLY reason I became an Adam's user is b/c of him so that is why I was asking. My technique and everything else I learned first from him (helps that I live in the same city and sponsored a clinic with him a while back lol). I also love my Adam's products, just sucks is all b/c I think it is a big loss for this forum, but I speak to AJ on other forums so no big deal really, sorry for not realizing this was a "sensitive" issue.
  14. Can someone enlighten me as to why he has "left the building"? Obviously I haven't been around enough bc he always was posting here, what gives???
  15. Guess I stayed away from them up till now because they didn't look very soft. I keep hearing though, how soft they are so I'm ready to try them.
  16. That's it, I'm getting one of these, with the money I have in all the other sub-par towels I own I could have bought a box lol.
  17. Osok, yes I think this is definitely something as well, maybe a combo of making sure I do a thorough IPA wipedown, combined with a lower humidity day maybe. Anyone know what is the best % of humidity to be at or under for waxing/glazing, are we talking like 60% or less, or can I go higher. Seems like here in the Ohio Valley in summer it is difficult to get a day that isn't pretty muggy that is why I'm asking.
  18. Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely give it a try as soon as I have time.
  19. Precisely, that's why I want a flex.
  20. I'm trying to figure out how to use this Dragon dictation software for my new iPad. Hey look at that it worked
  21. I'm actually having the same problem. I think if you have a hard clearcoat you definitely need the green pad. I'm thinking of ordering the green severe swirl remover as well.
  22. Don't worry about it I was freaked out to when I clayed my car and I still felt bumps. I think some people's paint is just not as smooth as others
  23. Hallelujah! Someone else has the same problem, I knew I wasn't crazy! I think there is something to the IPA thing, I went out tonight and took the back fender and used IPA on it really good, then BG and BW as usual. It was getting dark so I could not check the outside test but what I did notice "different" was pretty big I think. Right now, and for as long as I have had the products on my car, if I rub the paint with a soft microfiber towel it will cause a brief, "halo cloud" greasy type sheen to appear in the reflection of the lights in my garage, if I stop rubbing it will vanish after a few seconds. I know this is not right but never paid it much thought. Well it seems to not do it on the panel I did tonight with IPA, so I don't know if that is something or not, I'll have to wait to get it out in the sunlight to see if there is any blotchiness after the IPA.
  24. Nice I cant wait to get a flex, the pc is awesome but seems that it is slower going than I would like.
