Hello all. I will be deploying in a month, so I will be needing to store my car. Unfortunately it will be outside, and I'll need a high quality car cover. Mainly, I just have to worry about wind and rain here. Nothing too out of the ordinary for New York. What does everyone recommend? And how do you store your car outside? I've never stored one before

Flex Polisher Very Hard to Control??
DTrem13 replied to DTrem13's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Both of your posts make a lot of sense. If my pad wasn't primed enough with polish, would it will cake on the car? It does in some spots. And I'll pay close attention to my pressure when I'm home. Thank you both! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 -
Flex Polisher Very Hard to Control??
DTrem13 replied to DTrem13's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Yeah I primed the pad, I usually give a shot of Detail Spray every other time I make another pass so it's not dry. And I'm watching for the flashing so that's not a problem either. Hmmm... -
:willy: I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. About 1/3 of the way into my pass of polish, the FLEX becomes pretty darn hard to control to where I have to use a good amount of muscle to stop it from going everywhere. It doesn't seem normal at all to me, but is that how this machine is? I thought it would have been a lot easier to control! I've tried a little less polish and that didn't do much. And if I put any less pressure on it (it's not much at all as it is) I feel like it wont be enough. Can someone help?

DTrem13 replied to Chase@InsanePaint's topic in Detailing Write-Ups
You were able to get 5 passes of polishing done with the Flex and then some in 6 hours time? Dang now I'm really excited to get my Flex!! -
HAHAHAHAHAHA This is spectacular.

Just Made the Jump on the FLEX
DTrem13 posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
And I CAN NOT WAIT for it to get here :willy: I've been thinking about it for a while, and I decided it's finally time to upgrade. After all I've heard from everyone here, it'll make polishing so much faster and easier compared to the Porter Cable. Seriously I'm so psyched to try this bad boy out. Too bad it's still winter here, and the temperatures haven't been getting much higher than 25 degrees lately. But I'm sure I'll find a way to use it. I do have a heated garage after all. I'm getting such a bad case of cabin fever lately. I can't get wait to get back on my detailing grind!! I have so many cars lined up to polish up once this snow and salt go away for a while. It's gonna drive me insane! -

I'm down here with my Air National Guard unit. It's crazy the amount of work we're doing. But all of the people we are helping and the thanks we get and the attention is insane. It's so worth it. I'm glad I'm down here. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

What do you do Before Putting your Car Away?
DTrem13 replied to DTrem13's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Thanks everyone for your responses! Will a coat of wax be sufficient enough for probably 5 months in the garage? Or should I put a coat of sealant on it? -
What do you do Before Putting your Car Away?
DTrem13 replied to DTrem13's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
It'll be stored in a garage, he's not sure about a cover yet. I'm thinking a solid 2 bucket wash of course. Clean the wheels and undercarriage too. But I shouldn't worry about Brilliant Glaze, VRT, or anything fancy like that right since it's just going to be stored right after? And would Americana Wax hold up the whole winter or should I use Quick Sealant? -
I didn't know they made V8's that small!

"Newer" Car. Now What?
DTrem13 replied to New2011's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
If you're looking for what products to start overall. I'd start with this: Adam's Basic Wash & Wax Kit It gives you the essentials for a good car wash and wax. Make sure you buy a second bucket and grit guard as well in order to perform a "2 Bucket Car Wash." Make sure you watch all the videos too! As for the residue, try using some All Purpose Cleaner (Adam's All-Purpose Cleaner) on the area. And wiping down with a microfiber towel (Adam's Single Soft Microfiber Towel .) If that doesn't work. Try using a clay bar (Adam's Detailing Clay Bar & Detail Spray Combo) to remove the residue. Hopefully if the All Purpose Cleaning doesn't take care of it, this will. Happy detailing! Make sure you post some pics! -
Hard clear coat vs the pc 7424xp
DTrem13 replied to Jonothon's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
A lot of newer cars have hard clear coats. So you won't be able to get ALL swirls out of your paint with the PC. I made the assumption you could a few weeks back. I wasn't successful. So in the future I'm going to invest in a FLEX. Don't get me wrong, the PC is great. It only left a few swirls that weren't coming out, and the car still looked fantastic afterward. You really can't see the swirls unless you're really close. It's a great beginner tool for sure. You just won't get 100% perfection with it. -
Finding Places to Take Pics of your Car
DTrem13 posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Hi all. How does everyone find these cool places to take pics of their car? Do you know what to look for or already have places in mind? Or just like drive around looking for places? I'd really like to take some new pics, but can't seem to really find anywhere. I think I'm just not looking hard enough! Teach me your ways Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 -
Is it possible to get black 100% swirl free?
DTrem13 replied to DTrem13's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Thanks everyone for their response! I've been very busy the past few days. I ended up settling with less than perfect but I'm happy with my results. A FLEX is definitely in the wish list for next year. Thanks again! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 -
Is it possible to get black 100% swirl free?
DTrem13 posted a question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I feel like my technique with my PC is getting better. I'm polishing my car today and it's not too bad to begin with. I did a pass of SHR and FMP on my good and it looks great. I can see a difference. But if I look closely, there's still very few swirl marks around the hood. Those of you who have experience with black cars, what are your thoughts? Is it the best I can get to? Any input will help! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 -
Have fun!

There really isn't TOO much of a speed difference between applying Brilliant Glaze with a machine or by hand. Maybe a few minutes. So if you don't have the BG pad for your FLEX then don't sweat it. Just use the applicator that comes with it and press on. It does the exact same thing as using the pad, just takes a tad bit longer. Make sure you read the directions for both products!
