  1. That's solid advice. At the very least tell them that you don't want it washed.
  2. I do about the same as others here. Polish/wax the outside, remove the wheels to polish and do a full detail on the interior. Oil change, battery tender, carpet squares under the tires and cover her up. I usually start it and get the oil up to 180 every 6 weeks or so.
  3. For the OP I would say just start looking in industrial parks and other places like that. You would be surprised what you can find. Also parks provide some nice wooded backgrounds. Also parking ramps can be really interesting but it's hard to avoid all the white lines reflecting up on your paint. Car Craft about 10 years ago did a really good article on how to take pictures of your car and most of my ideas come right from that. Their biggest tip was the background should not draw your eyes away from the car at all since your car is the star. It should be free of large horizontal or vertical lines that make your car seem to have things growing out of it. Like trees, powerlines, fences or houses. I agree early morning or late afternoon is the best. Some guys like shots in front of old building or planes and each to their own. The shot below is probably my favorite of the hundreds I have taken of my car. Park in front of a field somewhere and lay on your stomach. The subtle key to this shot is to get all four wheels to show. Seems weird but it really makes a difference. Nothing in this shot to take away from the car. I even picked up a lot of the little rocks in the foreground.
  4. Well first off I love the flex. Boy what an upgrade from the PC. Smooth, powerful and easy to use. I did two passes with SSR (speed 6), two with with SHR (speed 6) and then one with FMP (speed 5). I only did the SSR on the hood and trunk lid since those had the major blemishes. Results were pretty good. I am down to just some deeper scratches and a lot of specks on the front clip/hood. But overall for about 3-4 hours of polishing I am pretty happy with the results. No perfect but I think I can get there with another session at some point. Any advice for all the little specks in the paint on the hood/front clip? I assume I attack them just like you would scratches.
  5. Since the Corvette C5's clear coat is like steel I have many passes with my new flex in my future. My question was about multiple passes. When doing the severe SHR (green) should I follow it up with another pass or two with the same stuff or should I do one pass with severe and then one pass with the normal (orange) stuff each time?
  6. I have my flex coming on Thursday. I plan on breaking it in on the daily driver. From the videos it looks pretty easy as long as you are careful.
  7. Will you have prices clearly posted? Last year I thought there were none when I walked through. Also how are the prices? Better than the website w/ a 10% coupon? I plan on stocking up and grabbing some focus pads.
  8. I second the Car Craft Nationals in MN. It's one of the biggest in the midwest. If not the biggest.
  9. I have some severe swirl remover coming via FedEx. Time to fire up the PC and get that hood and trunklid perfect. The orange stuff just can't get some of the tough scratches that I still see.
  10. My wife laughs at me because I point out other cars at the stoplights. Especially black ones....
