  1. Here are a couple of pictures of my GTO. Not bad looking paint (at least at this distance) for lacquer paint painted outside in 1989, huh? There was a lot of color-sanding and hand polishing over the years to get it to this point, though. The drag photo was from 2008 in more of a "daily driver" setup and the car show pic is from 2011 after a new 428 motor and a host of other modifications to make it more of a "hot rod".
  2. Hi everyone, I just placed my second Adam's order in the last month (this time a big one my wife won't likely appreciate ) and am looking forward to trying machine polishing/detailing with the PC kit. I've hand color-sanded and polished several 60's Pontiacs in my day (remember lacquer paint and no clearcoat?) but haven't used a machine to detail anything before. Now I'm a bit older and (hopefully) wiser and have little desire to hand polish anything again. Plus, I know the newer clearcoated vehicles we drive daily will likely respond better to the machine polishing, anyway. Current "challenges" to deal with using Adam's products: 1. My 1965 GTO with 20+ year old lacquer paint that is getting thin from too much sanding/polishing over the years. It really needs a re-paint but that isn't in the budget at this point. Even with all its paint defects, its amazing how old lacquer will still "shine" when all polished up. 2. Mom's new Pontiac G8 - the detailer she paid didn't remove the tar (mainly) and bugs and just waxed over all of it, so she decided (God love her) that it should come right off if she just used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Pad on ALL of the spots (I can hear you groaning with me...). She was right, they came off with some rubbing! The end result is a clean car with no tar - in return she has a multitude of hazy areas all over her new car from the abrasives in the pad. It's not pretty but probably no major damage. Thoughts on which level of polish to start with on these areas? Then there's the daily driven Acura MDX and Silverado pickup that need their own attention. But hey, it's got to be easier than hand rubbing all these vehicles!! Kent
