  1. I used to always tell the old woman "don't put storage in the garage! That's my place of meditation and I can't meditate with your boxes everywhere." now I find myself in quite a hypocritical situation. :/ lol Welcome to the addiction, and good luck with the paint correction! - Travis
  2. I'm around the same boat. Moving slow right now as I'm terrified of this economy. So with just using my own garage or the clients (if suitable) and being that I'm just one guy I stay in my own means. Being active duty is a bit of a task in itself, so stacking more than 5 clients with multistage polishes is about all I can do in a week by myself. The comment above about the 90% is absolutely true. It seems the only people I see are the ones who are frantically desperate to revive their paint so they have some sort of trade in value... One thing I've been focusing on now is cutting down my material cost with everything I do. I would eventually like to add an online store front but I just don't have the Capitol for the chosen companies buy ins. Props to you man, I really hope it works out. If I was in a more high class area I'm sure id be in a better situation.
  3. Thanks! Yes I was very happy with the results. Especially the Tahoe, that section wasn't even the worst area. I would post more but for some reason my dslr saved them as CR2 files. ive been meaning to convert them.
  4. the only thing i use a chamois for is to pat my quick-drys off before i get in the car. Stay modern, stay shinny. old dogs can always learn new tricks too!
  5. I want a custom series Iwata eclipse airbrush. never gunna happen though. No love for travis. All she says to me is "We are on a budget"! :/
  6. Hello, My name is Travis. im originally from seattle washington. im active duty military stationed in Ft. Campbell KY. Im a Armament electrician for attack helicopters by trade but recently started to make the moves to go from car club, friend, neighborhood detailer to an actual business. I drive a corn fed mazdaspeed3, and love getting to know new car communities. i hope to meet plenty of new people, learn new things, and hopefully have the opportunity to teach as well. -Travis well on to the pictures! These are a couple of memorable details over the last month. i hope you enjoy them. A friends 2012 mazdaspeed3 i plastidiped for him. also made him some mudflaps with airbrushed carclub logo. most of my lady friends are married with children. this lady asked me to install a new carpet lol i told her ill try to clean it the best i can before you spend all that much money. let me tell you what… ive seen some bad stuff but this takes the cake for this year. heres a couple before and afters. A friend of mine drove all the way down from champaign IL to get his newly purchased crystal white pearl mazdaspeed6 started on the right foot. thoroughly enjoyed working with this car. This was a beautiful mitsubishi evo 8 in hyper white. the most extensive detail in the last few months. unlike most japanese paints this paint was very hard.
  7. Oh wow I've never heard of someone using vinegar! Another cheap way to get water spots off windows is denatured alcohol mixed 3:1 with distilled water. From your description I'd say the alcohol mix is a far less arm work out as well. This mix can also be used to clean up wax residue from door jams etc.. I also know quite a few detailers that use this mix after polishing to ensure no oils are left on the paint before they start their protection layers. If nothing else works you can use a mild clay bar. I'm not very familiar with all of Adams products but as a last resort you can use window polish or something along the lines of klass all in one with a finishing pad. Best of luck. -Travis
