Adam's and Pace Car a winning combination
Greencat replied to Greencat's topic in Detailing Write-Ups
Thanks everyone. Can you tell we need some rain. -
Today was the first car show in our area (that wasn't rained out) since I picked up my Pace Car in May and with the help of my Adam's arsenal I brought home a first place trophy in the C6 class. After being out of town all week I only had to do some general cleaning and prep and it was a good thing. I thought I was going to melt in the high temps and humidity. I'm glad I was able to do the paint correction and heavy detailing a couple weeks ago when the temps were low. There were about 80 Corvettes at the show with a good mix of years. Although, there were no C1s for some reason. Our biggest show of the year is in two weeks at Sylvan Beach and should draw 500 Vettes from across the entire northeast. -Bob

+1 Do the best you can with what you have. You can accomplish a lot by hand. In the end it depends what your goal is. If you want a show car you'll probably never get there without wet sanding and machine polishing (even right out out of the factory). If you want a great looking daily driver you can get there by hand if the car is in decent shape. Try the S&H remover, Revive and Brilliant Glaze see where you're at. If you like it top it with Buttery wax and call it a day. I'll bet most people will think it looks awesome. Remember you already know where every mark is on the car because you've found them over time while washing and waxing. Most people probably won't notice them unless you tell them where they are.

Welcome from another CNY resident!

I'm on my 2nd convertible vette and I've used 303 products on both with excellent results. Mine stays in the garage covered most of the time so I only use the 303 cleaner followed by 303 fabric protection once a year. In between I use car wash right along with the rest of the car. if it stops beading I'll add another coating of protectant. If you use a brush you need to be careful not to raise the fabric with too much pressure especially over the cross bars or eventually the fabric will look different (faded looking). I use a soft foam sponge on the top and am careful not to put too much pressure on the cross bars.

Detailing Decals (Safe?)
Greencat replied to ragtop1970's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Nice car, but then again I guess I'm biased. I have the same concern about damaging the decals. If you look close some of the spaces between the gold stripes (like on the door) are actually clear parts of the decal. I have one mark on one of the decals that is like a very faint scuff. Not deep enough to feel with my fingernail but I can see it if the light is right. If it were on the paint it would come right out with a pass of FMP but I'm leery of using anything abrasive for fear of making it hazy or cloudy. Dies anyone know what is safe? Does Brilliant Glaze have any fine polish in it? I recently picked this one up with only 1025 miles on it. -
Americana Applicator Cleaning ?
Greencat replied to Natch02's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I'm not 100% certain it was the cause but my applicator started falling apart after I had cleaned it with full strength APC, rinsed it and put it back in the container. I don't think I'll try to repeat it with the new applicator. I'll be cleaning it with a less than full strength mix next time and will not be storing it in the wax container. -
Excellent Shane! Did the guy recognize it when you where done?

I agree. The Centerlines and black side pipes are classic. -
Nice collection of Vettes turned out yesterday.

Vettes at the Beach, Upstate NY?
Greencat replied to Greencat's topic in Upcoming Events & Gatherings
I'm sorry no one could make it. I was hoping to stock up my supplies at the show this year. There were 427 Corvette entries and many more that decided they didn't want to pay the entry fee and parked outside the green area. Here are a few photos
