  1. Hey everyone, been quite some time since I've indulged in the forums and much detailing to be honest. Recently traded in my wife's vehicle and got a new 2021 Hyundai Pallisade Limited with a nice dark metallic gray paint. Looking for some advice on the suggested process to get it all cleaned up from top to bottom. I do have some older supplies (car bars, detail spray, 1st gen ceramic, small swirl killer, FLEX polisher, etc). Looking for advice on the newest ways and products since I'm sure my older stuff is probably behind the curve of what's on the market now. I'd like to clay, polish, and ceramic the entire vehicle. Also looking to protect the nice new leather inside as well. I live in South Fla so no worries about snow or road salt here and I have a garage I can park it inside to detail and let the product dry if need be. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks a mil Adam. That’s exactly how I remember things back when I was hitting the detailing hard. I appreciate you making things right, it’s the reason I’ve always been a loyal customer.
  3. Funny I came across this post. I called Adam's today (and also sent a message via Instagram) and was told the same thing by both- my Flex that I purchased around 2012 was not covered under any warranty and they had no evidence of ever providing a lifetime warranty. Before I lost it on someone I reminded them that I'm pretty sure my Master Blaster and Flex were purchased during a period where lifetime warranties were offered on tools so I came here to confirm. Now my Flex has probably been used less than 10 times and I've spent probably in the area of $2000 or more over the years on Adam's products, so before anyone accuses me of being a pro or someone who bought one item, that's not me. But I went to polish my vehicle yesterday and the pad that has the velcro on it started disintegrating until it completely fell off. Obviously I'm not in need of a new polisher nor was I expecting or trying to get one, but if you're going to offer a lifetime warranty then offer a lifetime warranty and don't BS me and send me to Amazon to buy a replacement part. Ironically when going thru my supplies a few days ago I discovered a gallon of Total Interior Detailer leaking all over my storage cabinets (a pic was provided). I was also told there's no replacement for leaking bottles any longer- which I explained that I could remember the days when I had an issue with a product and someone was eager to make it right and replace whatever was broken, etc. I went as far as telling the associate today that I'm not asking for a free gallon, but at least you can send me an empty gallon bottle so I can salvage what's left in mine- Nope. Go figure I tried out my new Ceramic Paint Coating Kit yesterday and went to apply the boost today as suggested by the videos and the sprayer head on the brand new unopened bottle of boost broke on me. I don't know what's changed over at Adam's because I've been pretty detached from the detailing stuff after my daughter was born and I started a second job, but I miss the old days where things were done differently. Part of the reason I spent more money buying products that could be sourced elsewhere for less was because of the great warranty and because I was a die hard Adam's Polishes Fan who turned a handful of people into fans.
  4. Try FedEx, it's a whole lot cheaper most of the time.
  5. I don't even clean it. I set it upside down on a paper towel so all the VRT that's still in there stays in the applicator until the next time I use it. That way it might save me from having to use so much. Replace it when it gets torn.
  6. Thanks a lot guys for all the info. I never paid for that junk and it was never even suggested that I do because the sales manager is someone I know. I was just curious because they did have a little side sticker in addition to the window sticker that advertises the Perma Plate protection and warranty. I believe it was like $999 or something. Guess I feel bad for the suckers who buy this stuff. Gonna strip this badboy and let the "true blue" metallic paint get the face melting treatment. BTW Shine Doc, nice to have you back sir!
  7. Here's a video I found on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McMxftiLh_Y Seems like a lot of dealerships offer this product. I'm not saying I endorse it or whatever, just seeking info on it.
  8. I visited two different Jeep dealerships that were totally unrelated and not even in the same county. They both have the same thing with the Perma Plate being pre-installed when you buy the car. I didn't pay for the warranty on it because I'm not stupid and it's a 3 year lease, but I was just curious as to what it is and if I clay and correct the paint to remove the DIS would it have any kind of negative effects. If it's any good then I wouldn't want to remove it, but if it's junk then who cares if it comes off.
  9. Okay guys, I've tried searching and haven't come up with any useful info on this. My wife got a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee yesterday, and all their vehicles have the PermaPlate protection installed prior to being sold. This includes interior (leather) and exterior protection. I did not pay for this because they said they do it to all their vehicles, but if you pay then you get the protection of the warranty that comes with it, and if not you get no warranty. I visited two different dealerships and they both have the same plan. So...my question is...am I going to remove this PermaPlate by doing a paint correction? I use the Flex machine now on my other vehicles. How long should I wait to polish/wax the new truck? Is anybody familiar with this PermaPlate stuff?
  10. I dont see how you can even compare a backpack blower to a MB. Sure, a backpack blower blows...but there are so many advantages to the MB. I use it to dry the dog after a bath. I use it to dry the boat after I wash it. I use it to blow out the drain line on my a/c in the house. I use it to dry the engine, rims, tires after a wash and before dressing. You can get in all the nooks and crannys with it, bend the hose around, and unless you're 7ft tall or standing on a ladder I don't know how you would dry the roof of a truck with a backpack blower. It's one of those things you will either spend the rest of your detailing life wondering if it's worth it, or you will buy it and wonder how you've gone so long without it. Buy it on a sale and you will not be sorry. Have you seen any negative comments yet, except the price? We all know you get what you pay for. I love my MB and I used to use other drying options that weren't really that great for the paint (water blade, leaf blower, driving around the block and probably picking up debris that I would then rub into the paint as I hand dried). Buy it, you won't be sorry.
  11. Mine had lasted several rainshowers and about a week of time. I'm impressed and hoping for the gallon refill soon before I place my next order.
  12. I love this stuff. Personally, I like the wet look without the sling. Only concern I have is my sprayer is weird. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that or if I got a defective sprayer. It doesn't spray a normal fan type of pattern. PS- If anybody doesn't want the rest of their spray I will gladly pay for you to ship it to me if you want to donate it.
  13. Looking at that contraption gave me a few ideas. Is there a way to rig up one using a scuba tank? You could go with a smaller tank than the standard larger one so it's not so heavy, maybe scale down the pressure a little to conserve a bit more air. Or...is there a way to make a device similar that would work with the Master Blaster? At least if it's electric it won't require refills like a scuba tank.
  14. I used this on my wife's car saturday. I applied it and it dried for about 4hrs or so. I sprayed and didn't knock it down. From what I could tell there wasn't any sling but I didn't look too close either. We hit a few patches of rain that night and the next day a good majority of the shine was still there. I'm happy with it. My only question is....is my sprayer screwed up or is it supposed to spray in a weird half fan type of pattern?
  15. Thanks guys, ended up taking me two days but truck looks better than it probably ever has. I'm very pleased with the results. Got friends now looking into Adams products.
  16. I've been putting off doing a full correction on my F250 for almost a year now. Well today was the day, I got half of the truck done. Did one side, as well as the tailgate. Here was the process: -strip wash -clay bar with detail spray -SVRT all trim -Paint correcting polish/microfiber pad (FLEX,Focus) -Paint finishing polish/microfiber pad -Liquid Paint Sealant -Brilliant Glaze -Americana Premium Wax -Paint Correcting Polish,Paint Finishing Polish,Brilliant Glaze on windows -Deep Wheel Cleaner on rims with Adams Fender Brush and Wheel Woolie -Soft Scrub on tires with Adams Wheel Brush -SVRT Spray on wheel edges -SVRT on wheel faces -Invisible Undercarriage Spray -Detail spray on rims -SVRT exhaust tip -Metal polish 1&2 on running board metal surfaces -Revive hand polish in door handle jambs Gonna do the other side tomorrow and get it all finished up.
  17. No but the guys at the city garage that repair our cars pretty much give me the white glove treatment every time I go in because they know I take good care of my mobile office.
  18. I shake everything except the car shampoo and americana before using it.
  19. It's about to be a brutal week here, supposed to get into the 40's tomorrow night.
  20. Funny you should mention that, but yes I do. And I just did it a few days ago and go figure I had a guy in the backseat last night getting blood and mud all over the place. And yeah I get what you're saying about the car washes. Honestly, I use my pd car mainly to practice on before I go hitting the wife's car with the new products. As many times as I have co-workers leaning on my car with their gun belt on, driving thru brush or whatever to go looking for subjects, and the fact I work midnights and hit sprinkler puddles about every night, it's hard to want to keep this car extremely shiny. Not to mention, the dept will sometimes (not often though) decide they want to reassign your vehicle, so you can spend a ton of time/effort into cleaning it only to have it swapped out. But I do my best to keep it looking good, especially with the US Marine Corps sticker on the back. I take pride in my appearance, and my vehicle is part of my appearance. Not to mention, I spend nearly 13hrs a day in it! I haven't even polished my truck yet since I've owned it, which will make one year in April. But I've polished my PD car and my wife's car. That should tell you which vehicles get driven to most.
  21. Okay thanks, good advice I'll try a test area first with the two step and microfiber pads. Hope it starts pouring snow soon in CO, I'm going to Breck next month for some snow boarding.
  22. 80 degrees and snow don't go together well. It's been a record warm winter here in south fla.
  23. Just curious, if I had a car that was in pretty rought shape, would i be better off starting with SSR and a green pad, then going into the two step system? Or should I just go with the 2 step from the start and use the microfiber pads? Car is a 2007 black Nissan Maxima, I don't think it's ever been waxed or polished. It's my brother's car and I saw it this weekend and my OCD told me to volunteer to bring some life back to it for him. Poor car would need a full detail, inside and out. Headlights look like poop too. This would def be a good car to take lots of before and after pics, and to showcase the new liquid sealant on.
