  1. A little late to this...ok REALLY late... but I just started watching Shameless on demand. Got to season 2 and saw Bob using Adam's on the truck. Thought it was funny how she even said she likes washing the truck late in the day to avoid the bright sun and waterspots. Did Adam's script that line for the show? lol. She was using an Adam's microfiber towel also, but she was using it to wash the truck,. With NO sign of 2 buckets or a wash pad around! Very cool though.
  2. Tim, Dont know if this applies to you, just thought it too coincidental that I just read the first review and they were talking about only one side working: Maybe you'll get lucky and this will apply to you. If not, sorry to waste time, lol.
  3. When working outside and worrying about pollen and stuff...Would it be a good idea to clay, and leave the clay residue until you get to that panel. Then wipe down a small portion with IPA and polish that section, then keep moving on in smaller sections? If so, would it be a good idea to use IPA when moving on to the next step as well? Or would the IPA mess up the polish? I wouldn't think so since the polish isnt a product you leave behind, right? My car is only 7 months old and is yellow, so I don't really see any swirls or anything... so I'm probably only going to be doing a fine polish and machine sealant. So should I clay, then IPA a small section, then polish? Should I do the whole car like this before moving on to the sealant or just do polish then immediately sealant on each small section? Sorry... this ended up being longer than I thought and I dont mean to hijack. Just worried about doing this outside and I don't really have much of a choice. Basically, I know it's not ideal to do this outside... but want to make sure I do what I can to do the best job I can while doing it outside. (This is also my first time, so that doesnt make it any better)
  4. Thanks. I was afraid you were gonna say that.
  5. I too live in Florida and don't have a garage to work in. Probably going to get a canopy, but I also wonder about this pollen in the air. Is that going to buff INTO the clear, or will the pad kinda wipe it OFF? I'm gonna have to do this outside, and I don't think the pollen is going away any time soon. Probably going to be an issue for months, lol.
  6. I don't think anyone else noticed the OP editted his post and still had it for sale. I emailed him and bought it and got it in the mail last night. (Came the same day all my Adam's polishes did too!)
  7. Thanks. I'm loving my color choice after my wife bought a black truck! lol. Still need to keep it nice, but the little things don't bother me as much. It's funny though... when I go to WORK on it... I actually almost WISH it was black so I could see what I was working on.
  8. Wow, very nice. Don't think I'll be wet sanding just yet, but its nice to see the possibilities. I was just about to jump on the PC, but then the comment about the beer is making me reconsider, lol.
  9. Hi everyone. Bought my Challenger last year and have spent a lot of time on this forum just lurking and reading all the tips and watching the videos over on the Adams site. Really taught me more than I knew there was to detailing my car and I really appreciate it! Finally going to take the plunge into machine polishing since my wife bought a used black truck that is a PITA to detail and was never taken care of. So i finally joined the forums since I figure I will probably need all the help I can get, lol. I will attach a pic of my baby so you all can get to know her. Her name is CindyLou.
  10. Wow... I too am a newbie from Jacksonville with a 2012 Challenger. You ever go to meet and greets or the Springfield Cruise? (The cruise is tomorrow by the way, and I highly recommend if you havent been)
  11. Well... I might be getting a used PC for $85 from right here on the forums. Then I might be able to convince the wife I need a Flex later on and its ok since I didnt spend that much on the PC.... right? lol
  12. Good info in this thread, thanks everyone. I had the same questions. I am still in the process of deciding which polisher to buy, but stuff like this helps in the decision making. Is there a Machine polishing for dummies thread somewhere that I have missed? I think I get the general idea, but like O2ShootTheJ, I also want to make sure I havent missed anything and have all my bases covered before I get started.
  13. I saw the chart, but it seemed out of date since the new pads allow the flex to machine sealant and stuff like that. Now I'm more unsure than I was, lol. I originally thought I might as well just get the "better" one... because I dont think I will ever be able to justify buying 2 different machines with the wife. So if the PC is needed to get smaller areas and it CAN do the same job as the flex (just slower), then maybe thats what I need to go with. (I know the wife will appreciate the difference in price, leaving me more money for Adams supplies!) Thanks guys! (Oh, one more question on this topic... if I did end up getting the flex, I wouldnt dare use the focus pads that go on a drill for those small areas right? Being a novice and all, and wouldnt it be even more dangerous having a rotary type pad in those small areas next to things that could be easily damaged?)
  14. I hope my first post on this forum isn't going to be a stupid question, but this info seems like it is outdated due to advances in the pad technology, etc. Are there still any advantages in owning a PC and a Flex? From what I have gathered, the Flex isn't necessarily any more "dangerous" than the PC. I am a complete noob, and if I am going to be getting one, I don't want to waste money on a PC only to upgrade to a Flex like everyone seems to be doing. Is either machine capable of getting into tighter areas? (And how DO you get those smaller areas if they dont?) Basically, I just want to get the most bang for my buck and make my life as easy as possible. (Shopping for a machine stemmed from not being able to move after spending all weekend hand polishing my wife's used black truck that looked like it had never been taken care of before, lol)
