PC Speed 6

I just got done giving my charger lots of love. Started lastnight with strip wash, clay, foam, and orange pad+ shr. Finished the buffing around 1:30am. Got up this morning and finished the white+FMP and then gray+MSW. VRT on tires and trim, glass cleaner on the windows. Basically the full Adams service.

 

Anyways, lastnight while I was mindlessly buffing away I was wondering to myself why is it it's not good to use speed 6 with the PC? Yes it does seem quite a bit faster than 5 for some reason, but I was just wondering what the pros thought as to why are supposed to work on speed 5.

Its not that you can't use the machine at speed 6, but the difference in correcting ability is negligible. You'll wear yourself out using it at that speed too...

I wouldn't use it, it's loud, vibrates a TON and seems to have a mind of its own where it wants to go.

My arms felt like noodles afterwords on speed 5. Can't imagine doing speed 6.

I feel like I'm riding a bull when I turn that thing on 6. Having numb arms after a pass on speed 6 isn't good for business.

I guess this where all the years of football and track n field practicing/training come to play, lol, I could use 6 all day and my arms are fine. My back on the other hand thats a complete different story.

Funny stuff here guys...but only in that it's all true. For the heck of it I fired up speed 6 a couple times today while doing my brothers Marano. Oh momma does it vibrate a lot, definitely is real noisy, and for sure felt like it at times like it wanted to race off out of my hands.

 

Dylan...so the orange + SHR won't really cut better or faster at 6 speed? Interesting to know it's not worth the efforts.

if you want to use speed six you need the 6" counter weight to help with the vibrations. the vibrations will cause the velcro on the backing plate to wear out because with all the vibration the pad and backing plate stick and unstick at a high rate, the pad won't fly off as long as you're applying enough pressure and keeping the angle of the polisher exactly on top of the spot you're working but it will cause the backing plate to wear out. this is what Ashley told me

When correcting your paint with the Orange pad and SHR you can use 6th. speed! When polishing you can bump down to 5 or 4, and waxing drop down to 3rd. speed.:pc:Everyone does it just a little different, find a system that works for you and go with it!

You will also find that 6 vibrates significantly more than 5
