02Xtreme07ss
You guys really need to find a better carrier than Fed Ex. No one was around to sign for my last order and now they won't attempt re-delivery until Tuesday, 10/5. What happened to the following business day? Sigh...Fed Ex...terrible. IMADreamer
Fed ex has been such an improvement over UPS for me. It doesn't take two weeks to get my stuff now. I've never had to sign either.

08G8V8
I think it's only the FedEx Home Delivery option where they don't deliver the next business day. I had a delivery, not from Adam's, a few months ago and since I wasn't home on Friday they redelivered on Tuesday. The FedEx Home Delivery guys in my area travel around in small vans, not the larger delivery trucks. If you choose FedEx Ground, you will get a re-delivery the next business day. It is just slightly higher priced than the FedEx Home Delivery option. Not sure why the package would be signiture required however. I guess it depends on what you ordered. They seem to leave mine on the front doorstep, ring the buzzer and leave, even though my address has the instructions "BACK DOOR PLEASE"
02Xtreme07ss
Well, funny that I'm experiencing the exact opposite with Fed Ex as opposed to UPS. My company ships hundreds of packages everyday via UPS Ground and we're pretty much 1-2 days to anywhere within a few hundred miles of NorCal. My Adam's orders take on average, 4 days from CO to CA and I usually have some issue with delivery, not a single one with UPS. In this case, the package was not signature required, but there was no one available to take delivery nor was there anywhere to safely leave the package. I give them credit for not just leaving it outside a door and driving away, but the rates and the transit times just aren't a very good value. SonicHD
Yeah well UPS was causing a lot of problems when Adams used them as well. I had gotten 2 deliveries where bottles were half empty. And others where boxes were beat. So far, no issues with my FedEx orders
02Xtreme07ss
UPDATE...just got off the phone with Fed Ex... Fed Ex Home does not deliver on Mondays. They only deliver 9am - 8pm, Tuesday - Saturday. Redelivery does normally occur the following business day, which in this case is Tuesday for them. So, at least that explains the new scheduled delivery of Tuesday, 10/5.

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like there are areas of the country where one service outperforms the other, but nothing consistent. Maybe this thread will help identify those areas....the silver lining maybe?

GerryC
Agree with OP. FedEx broke my mini fridge on the day it was supposed to be delivered, then they delivered the overnighted replacement to the wrong address. 3 weeks later they brought my Adam's order to an apartment complex and sent it back because I didn't put an apartment number on the shipping address...I live in a house. Kingsford
I hate FedEx I always have to make sure I am home to sign for it no matter what it is. While our UPS guy leaves our packages on our back porch where they are safer and people can't see them. UPS ALL THEY WAY!
DanFish
Fedex delivered my Adams to the wrong house. Well, they actually delivered it to a lumber yard on the other side of town. Took them 3 days to pick up my package and get it back to me.

smankins
There might be an option you have selected on file with FedEx which shows you want to sign for packages - call them and see if you can change that option. As for my area, neither FedEx or UPS ever wait for a signature. I think they would get mad if I tried to sign! They drop it on the porch, ring the bell and immediately head for the truck - no waiting for me.
02Xtreme07ss
There might be an option you have selected on file with FedEx which shows you want to sign for packages - call them and see if you can change that option. That wasn't the case here. The problem is that there isn't anywhere for the packages to be left, so if no one is available to even get into the building, they simply can't deliver. Like I said, if they scheduled the redelivery for Monday, there would be no harm, no foul. My issue was that they rescheduled delivery for Tuesday. After speaking with Fed Ex, it turns out that Fed Ex Home does not deliver on Mondays which is why the package was rescheduled for the next business day they operate, Tuesday. Lesson learned, I'll have to use Ground regardless of where I'm having the package delivered because I can't guarantee that someone will be available on weekends at that location to accept a package. 1anonly
The only issue I have with FED EX is the time I get my packages. I always get my Adam's stuff after 7PM.(I must be the end of the route) Which means my wife is home...catch my drift? So what I do is call Fed Ex and hold it there. Then I go pick it up in the morning when she's not around. Also Fed Ex home delivery offices hours are open Tuesday through Saturday and closed on Sunday and Monday. One weird thing is if my package goes through Kansas City, I'll get in the morning. If it comes through Chicago, I get at night.
b_pappy
Tough call making everyone happy. I like FedEx a lot, no problems with tracking, condition of boxes, or signatures. I have mine shipped to work anyhow. UPS has never seriously screwed up an order for me either though. The entire "do you need a signature" will always vary. If they leave it without a signature and it gets stolen then there is no proof it ever got delivered to the address, then the Shipper has to cover it. If they require a signature and you are not at home it needs to get redelivered. Delivering it to the wrong side of town is an individual courier problem. Would having it held at the FedEx hub be easier? I have some customers who prefer USPS for shipping. It varies from person to person, location to location. Brad519
I prefer FED EX myself. They deliver to my house before noon as the UPS guy comes around 5. Plus they deliver on Saturdays
