Washing an RV

MrVette83

Question

My father has asked me to help him wash his RV this afternoon. It is a 45 foot Fetherlite Vogue 5000. Needless to say it's gonna take quite a bit of soap. The paint isn't pristine on this behemoth and today is not an attempt to change that. I was going to use my Adam's Foam Gun to spray it down initially(I'm trying to turn him on to Adam's products and think showing him the trick foam gun will help some) but I don't feel like using my Adam's shampoo since I feel it to be a waste. Should I theoretically still see the same foaming results with a Turtle Wax "Zip Wax" car wash product? It is a shampoo style soap but I didn't know if there were certain characteristics of the Adam's shampoo that cause it to foam as well as it does. He is helping out at a festival this weekend and the RV will be in a field where it will have dust settle all over it. He just wants to knock off the road spray from the rain he drove through a few weeks back.

Thanks for your input.

Daniel

Well there's a pretty smile! :lolsmack:

On a serious note, I wouldn't detail that sucker unless the payment was 6 figures.

:lolsmack:I really don't have an aversion to smiling. The sun was in my eyes here and I was trying to cue up the pic, lol.

No such thing as wasting Adams shampoo if washing a car :)

But the only way I think you'd know for sure about the turtle wax in the foam gun is to test it before you take it over there. I'm thinking you might need a stronger soap to water ratio but that's just a hunch.

I think this is as good an opportunity as any to use up some old car care supplies. Sadly, though, I bet the turtle wax stuff doesn't clean as effectively or rinse away as cleanly. But still, we're talking RV here, not ZR1... so I'd go for it.

Exactly:iagree:

Project is done. Used the Zip Wax with no issue. Will post some pics later from home.

Its hard to say, I have never used the Turtle soap. Like the old saying You get what you pay for!

Exactly. I actually like the Turtle Zip Wax. It was what I used for a car wash soap before I found Adam's. The RV is 10 years old and he's owned it since buying it off Adrian Fernandez in October of 2006. It has swirls and holograms in the paint but it's an RV and I can't even imagine what amount of time would be needed to go over it with a PC and SHR/FMP regimen to get rid of them. He really seemed to like the "Suds Sprayer" and asked me a few questions about Adam's stuff.

Just a couple pics real quick. Since this wasn't really an in depth detail I only took a few. Then finished it up with a Dylan shot just for the heck of it.

RV Before

My dad foaming a section of the RV down. Since it was in direct sunlight and I did not use pH neutral Adam's I thought it best to tackle a section at a time.

And the "Dylan Shot"
