Stepping up to Adams

I have been doing some research for the past few weeks about different waxes and polishes and things of that sort and I believe that I have found a good starting point for my journey. The adams products look very user friendly and kind of hard to mess up according to the junkman videos. I have a black car with some fairly heavy water damage and would like to get rid of them. In doing this I would like to get a good starter set so I can detail many more vehicles. All you experts out there, what products should I start out with to create a beautiful shine? I am also planning on buyin a pc.

Make sure you get the Brilliant Glaze to top whatever wax or sealer you get. It does great things on black paint.

There are other sources on the web to get the foam gun, it just may not be American made. The foam gun is an extremely important part of maintaining a swirl free finish so find one wherever you can.

Well it seems like everyone has their own opinion on what kit or product to buy. Just buy one of everything and then you should be all set.

Actually, if you use the Brilliant Glaze to hide your paint's imperfections (that's what it is for), you want it under whatever wax or sealant you use, not on top of it.

 

Can you put BSG under it? I know you can put the new BG under wax but I still have a full bottle of BSG to go through first.

Brilliant Glaze, then Americana over it. Then Unicorn Blood on a blue/red pad. That's how Dylan gets his black paint to scream!

Yes you can. It probably won't cover as well. I always thought BSG was too thin as a glaze.

Get the Junkman Paint Correction Kit, its pretty expensive but includes the PC

Swirl & Haze Remover

Fine Machine Polish

AT LEAST 2 each of the Orange, White, Gray pads

4 pack of Double Soft Microfiber Towels

Machine Super Wax and/or Americana

Brilliant Glaze

The kits are a very good place to start and both contain the items Mato mentioned (not as many towels as he suggested though). My 2 cents is to get a gallon of Detail Spray from the start.

I am going to be honest. I didn't think I would need ALL of that stuff when I started but 8 months and $1500 later I ended up with all of it. Save yourself some money and buy the kit!!!!

What about a foam gun? Is is pointless to have it before the junkman kit since the paint won't be perfect? I have checked the forum out about the gun and clicked on the link to show it to me on adams website for purchase but the link doesn't work...

The foam gun is on hold for sales due to some manufacturing issues.

 

And to your question, perfect paint or not washing your car with the foam gun is an outstanding way to do it and will just cut back on the amount of damage you're most likely doing washing without it. Foam gun, 2 bucket wash, 2 grit guards, 2 wash mitts, Adams shampoo = great start for a great wash. Good technique in using those products rounds out the no damage during washing plan.
