no one should attend these :banned:

to have that many cars racing on a "open" highway with other non-aware drivers is very dangerous.

Only race on closed courses or tracks ... don't put others life in jeopardy to go fast.

I would and have attended events like this. It is a good time to get out on the road with a bunch of like minded individuals. Some people were speeding and got caught. Pay the ticket and deal with the consequences. However pulling everyone over because they where part of the group is wrong. All of these people are together to donate money to charity and then the cops ruin the day for everyone. Not right. It was just an easy ploy to earn revenue. I have left car shows before where there are hundreds of people watching the cars leave onto a road that is closed. The cops would wait around the corner and stop every car to look for illegal mods. I do not have a problem with the people who decide to drive like idiots getting tickets, but to stop everyone just because they can is not right and a sad ploy to earn money. I would have liked to see the event. I have been on police escorted car cruises where the cops close the road and have seen speeds above 80 to 90 on these. Granted I am not familiar with the area where this happened and it could be a highly populated area. Where speeds of 100 are not acceptable at all. But lets be honest when you get into an exotic car and hit a deserted section of road would you not be tempted to hit the case a little. All of these cars get to 100 real quick. I will be honest as well I would feel safer at 100 in most of these exotics then 75 in a Hyundai sonata on worn suspension and bald tires. I am not trying to start an argument just add some light to a story which seems very skewed.

i know a guy that was in that, he said the whole ordeal was fun as hell and for a good cause. people are bound to do that, its only natural. im surprised they didnt have cops blocking stuff off for them.

they did in the beginning they had an entire road shut down with cars parked in a line and the road with...

not sure what town they met in but they do a lot of these runs and the cops support them

Sorry, but I have to agree with the police on this one. Having 100 of cars rip up public streets at 100+ mph is "not for a good cause" for anyone. It's stupid, dangerous, illegal activity. What were the police suppose to do? Turn a blind eye to it? These are public roads. People are going to work. Grandmothers are going to the grocery store. Kids are riding bikes and playing.

And yea, so the police "waited" for them and busted them for tint and other minor stuff. Fine by me. I'm sure that's because they were called to the scene by lots of people calling to report this reckless pack of speeders ripping through the area. The police have every right to let this gang of nitwits know that their actions aren't appreciated and welcome on their roads. If all those cars had responsibly and safely came into town, did their track event and then went home there probably would have been no issue.

Like Ray said, if you break the law be ready to pay the fine and accept the consequences. Most of us push the limits a little here and there with a little burst of speed or borderline illegal tint job, but the key is not to attract attention to yourself by doing really dumb things, like, I dunno, getting into a huge pack of cars and driving 100 mph. Duh.

I go on a few of cruises a year and some of the guys driving in these do drive stupid. When guys on my cruises get pulled over it's for speeding not equipment violations. For the most part, the roads we going on are expressways. When we hit roads with lower speed limits, most everyone watches their speeds. I will admit that I have speeds over 100 on these cruises, but it was a wide open area and there were no cars outside of the cruise around me. I will also say that I have been on the other end of this too. Two years ago my car was rear ended because one of the people in a cruise were not paying attention. I had to have the bumper repainted.

Yeah as much as I like to tear sh*t up, you cant do it on a populated road, regardless. ESPECIALLY with that many cars doing it at once! If your out in BFE and nobody is around, thats one thing. Then its just between you and the potential that theres a cop up ahead. You not putting anyone but yourself in danger. But if there is other vehicles on the road, thats just dumb.

And if your on the way to a track....... just wait! Your gonna get yours anyway!

i still say its for the track otherwise any resulted injuries to other "non-aware" drivers should be MADE to be paid by the members of the car club. Would only cost a few of the members their cars
