Water or Coke?

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.. (Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries

two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke

and it will be gone in two days.

#3.To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5.To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle.. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?:(

Good post! I drink one gallon+ of water a day. I use the restroom at least 15 times at work because of it. lol

Good thing to remember is if you are well hydrated, your urine should be nearly clear to clear. If it's yellow, you either JUST took a vitamin with B2 in it, or you're dehydrated.

I've heard you should have at least 5 clear urinations a day.

Water, always.

Probably drink a gallon of water or so a day. The only time I have soda is when its its mixed with alcohol, I'll drink some coke and sailor jerry (Cap Morgan rip off thats cheaper and higher proof) when I'm not drinking beer. Jack and coke works too on occasion.

I am/was "addicted" to Coke... in the last few years I tremendously cut down on how much I drink it. Maybe about a can a week now.

replacing it with water has been huge for my general health. I don't quite drink a gallon a day but I've noticed I have more engergy and am less hungry throughout the day.

:2thumbs:

I am definitely not defending coke, but snopes has weighed in on those claims here http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp

But Coke (carbonated caffeinated sugary beverages in general) vs. Water, water wins hands down. Coke has things in it like caffeine and sodium that are potentially harmful. Not to mention the empty calories and the sugar crash that'll follow.

On the other hand, there is lots of controversy about how much water a person needs to stay healthy and hydrated. And also how someone get's that water, via beverages and food.

And on the merits of Captain Marshmallow, or Sailor Jerry's, Sailor Jerry's is much better, it's no rip off of Morgans. :D

Yea I assumed there'd be some snopesism to my original post..but i still think most folks dont drink enough water.

Certainly wasn't trying to take away from that point, water is good for you by not being bad for you. It aids in so many bodily functions it's ridiculous. And as a race humans are roughly 70% water, if you are less than that, you need more, go get some. If it's bottled, please recycle the bottle.

Oh I know its better, the higher proof and cheaper price is a bonus, haha. When I say Sailor Jerry's to most people I get a WTH is that look so I just say rip off because they used another sailing theme name.

Coke zero for me!

Yup. Been using Coke Zero in my rum for a few years now, tastes better IMO and I suppose it might be better for me.

I definitely agree water is very helpful in lots of ways. That being said, I only drink water at home. You won't find anything soda related in my house unless you bring it. However, I do have one pepsi to start out my day. I have to have that in the AM...some people have to have a smoke or something crazy...I need a pepsi. HAHA.

I have tried to cut it completely but no way in the world. I don't drink it on the weekends unless I am out of town on the road or something.

A large glass of water right after you wake in the morning gets your metabolism running again and sets you up for a good day. Remember breakfast means... BREAK THE FAST. You haven't eaten in several hours and your body NEEDS food to start the day.

I too used to live on Coke/Pepsi. The only time I have it now is when I eat out and grab a burger or something.

When we were doing the clean up from Katrina around the Biloxi area in 80% humidity and 90 plus degrees, my body just decided to shut down the entire cooling system. I drank my full camel pack (2 litres) plus another 3 or 4 litres in bottles. Never sweated a drop of it out. All of it went straight into the blue rockets set up all over the place. Severe dehydration is something ya NEVER want to experience!!

Also, keeping yourself well hydrated is a prime way to ensure that headaches stay away.

No kidding, it never even occured to me as it was happening, then for the only time in twenty years I got seasick heading back to the ship for the night. Then I realized something was really screwy. Never happened before, hasn't happened since. Wierd.
