leather conditioner on a coat?

Darth_Emma

Question

I recently purchased a leather coat (I am told it's made of lamb leather). It is very very soft, smooth leather (not suede) and I want to take good care of it. I wondered if any of you have used Adam's leather cleaner on a good leather coat and how it worked out? Thanks!

I've used leathermate on my Choko Camaro jacket and that has worked out pretty well.

I got it from Choko at the Camaro nationals for $330.

I showed the jacket to a retired professor here, and he had a friend in textiles he showed me what to look for in the quality, and he said it was worth the $430 retail price. For example there is leather bits on the inside of the jacket, on the tips of the sleaves, and even leather that holds the button above the vinplate.

I love the jacket as much as the camaro.

The only unfortunate thing about this jacket is it IS made in Canada, like our cars, but the jacket is way cool and like Terri said it does have a plate on the inside that is engraved with the VIN # of your car.

I was lucky enough to get a lithograph from the factory signed by some of the workers who built my car along with the documnetation of my build since I pre-ordered my car. This jacket is a nice touch.

You actually can't buy the coat directly if you live outside of Canada. Only GM dealers in Canada can buy them. I had the good fortune of getting it through a Camaro5 member who lives in Canada and he was able to get them for us through his dealer. They even went to the trouble of getting our VIN numbers engraved on a small plaque that is riveted inside the coat. I love it.

Terri,

I have the same jacket, well mine may be just a wee bit bigger but I used the leather conditioner on it and I saw no ill effects of using it. I put it on very lightly since mine was new. Looks great.

A Camaro jacket with your VIN # on it is just too cool.

Well, hey there, Dr Jkel. Yes, I am talking about my Camaro jacket from Canada. :)

I used Leather Conditioner on a pair of gloves. I think the results were great. The break-in time was dramatically decreased. I would assume your coat would benefit from an application. As always though... test on an inconspicuous spot first :)
