Pro's can you provide insight?

Question

On another local site that i am on a guy just bought a 03 cobra and was making a detailing thread on it. I read it and suggested he try Adam's products because how much luck I had with them and so on and so forth. Well another guy basically came on saying Adams isnt worth the money and so on and so forth. Here is one of the statements he made

"They sell you a porter Cable 7424XP but with 7.5" pads...right there that is just the worst kit EVER...when it comes to defect removal you should never go bigger then a 5.5" pad with a PC because it just not have the power to keep a larger pad spinning when pressure is applied without taking alot more time and energy. with the PC pads like the Meguairs MF pads and the low profile Hydrotechs are probably the best thing to use...thinner pads less mass to rotate and can keep the pads spinning because once the pad stalls on the machine and its just wiggling your wasting time..and this will happen pretty much most of the time with 7.5" pads. So that kit from them is USELESS"

Could someone provide me with insight on if any of that info is correct? Im not a machine polisher by any means and do not even own a PC YET. Thats why I brought the question here.

Sounds like he works for them.

If it were the worst kit ever, why do we sell so many? Why do we continue to provide proof and information otherwise of that angry little man's statement? I personally have a lot of experience with said kit and I have had great success.

I will let Dylan handle the jibbjabba regarding pad size. This could be good.

He is convinced that his way is best. Let him carry on and let the results speak for themselves. If Adam's stuff didn't work well, I wouldn't be here, nor recommend it to my friends. Just another person who is cutting off the heads of others to make himself feel tall.

I always ask myself what is the motive behind the words??? Adam has excellent products. I have proved that to myself. Are his products the absolute best in every single catagory covering every area of the car care industry??? I do not know that because I have not personally tested every single product available, although I have tried many.

For me Adams is the perfect choice! Here are a few reasons why?

1. Products are excellent!

2. Perform as advertised!

3. Excellent customer service!

4. They provide excellent consumer information/education!

5. Extremely pro Made in USA!

6. Takes care of his employees from what I have seen personally!

7. Adam is a small business built from blood sweat and tears! Very very hard to do in these economic times!

As far as pads, sizes, pc use and defect removal, I will leave the more detailed explanation to the experts/mods.

The above are some of the reasons I choose Adams products. Expensive? Maybe!! Think about it, you get what you pay for!!! If someone wants cheaper products...beware.

As a small business owner and a self proclaimed detail nut, I could go on and on, I will end here and let others add to this if they choose.

Just my .02

These are my motives, what are his?????

I'd like to throw my $0.02 in here.

First, the Meguiar's microfiber pads work great and do save time, for the professional detailer. I have a professional detailer friend and he loves them, then again he sometimes has to do two or three cars in a day.

Second, there are a bunch of F O R M E R Meguiar's users here including myself. I changed after 25+ years of using Meguiar's. Why? Well Dylan is the first reason I tried Adam's Premium Car Care Porducts. His professionalism on this and many boards is head and shoulders above that from other manufacturer's. He will be the first to let you know of products made by other companies that do things that a comparable Adam's product can't, such as Raggtop for owners of convertibles. (Thank you Dylan for relating that (don't remember where now.) I have a coworker that fell back in love with her old Chrysler Sebring. She thinks I'm the car genius.) :glasses:

Third is the direct communication with Adam Pitale the owner of Adam's Premium Car Care with us, his paying customers. Adam has complimented me on my detailing of my G8 GT and also gave me advice on a first bicycle for my soon to be three year old twins. Sorry but in twenty five years I never had any communication with Barry Meguiar, though I'd love to sit down and break bread with him.

Fourth is the 110% money back guarantee. If you're not happy with any Adam's product simply call or e-mail them and they will make it right, if not send it back on their dime for a 110% refund. Meguiar's may replace the product, but most likely send you back to the store your purchased it from.

Fifth is the company's commitment to use American :patriot: made products and if one is not available then they either don't sell the product or they sell one that is from an economy that competes with us on a level playing field such as Germany, and definitely not China, Viet Nam, etc.

Finally, there customer service is the tops, period. I can say that after years of being a Customer Service department manager. I know my department is one of the best, if not the best in our industry. (Our accounts tell us that, I'm not just imaging it.) What I've experienced from Adam's is the same that our customers get: no nonsense, no hoops to jump through, no questions asked. Sometimes we want product back for quality evaluation and when we do WE pay for shipping. I recently had an experience with a competitor of Adam's with a defective product. They replaced it, but I had to pay to ship the defective product back to them. Do you want to guess who will no longer get any of my $$$?

We Adam's users know better.

I said it many times, Adam's sells the best pads on the market.

I say use what works for you.

Hate to use smaller pads being they work so so well and last a long time.

Maybe they can't afford the best so this may make one fell better about the product that they use.

I say use what works for you.

Well said Kevin!

I'm not a fan of larger pads either, I use 5.5" & 6.5". But, I'm not gonna bash Adam's pads or the people who use them. Many have had great success with them and have raved about them.

USE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!

I have heard that argument before too, but the results speak for themselves - you CAN get excellent results from the larger pads.

Remember that Adam's market is the hobbyist detailer, not the professional. The pro's need something that works fast. The larger pads give the same results, but they may take a little longer.

Your forum mate is one who does not understand technique. Technique trumps product and equipment every day of the week.

Example: Let's say that you are going to play 18 holes with Tiger Woods. If you were unknowingly given a set of golf clubs that belonged to Tiger Woods and Tiger grabbed a bag of crappy clubs from Wal-Mart, you wouldn't stand a chance. Why? Because a professional can take sub par equipment and even the playing field with their technique. Give that same professional some quality equipment and their results will rock it out of the ball park. Once you lost, how uninformed would you look if you started bashing the clubs that you were using? That's the same thing I think of when I see post like the one you copied. This guy just showed his ignorance by giving us a view of how bad his technique is. If I can use those same products and get the results that I do, how can he claim what he claims in the face of my results? The question that I ask people is who are you going to believe... him or your lying eyes?

On detailing forums, you will find a ton of people who claim to know what they are talking about but you will be hard pressed to see any of their work, especially their own paint up close. That's a picture they won't take, but a picture that I always make sure to include plenty of be it my videos or my write-ups. If you want to, point him to any of my write-ups, especially the ones at the shows where I have a ton of people watching my every move. No tricks or mirrors there, just pure, satisfying results. Ask him to explain how I did it, if it can't be done. I'd love to hear his answer.

...The larger pads give the same results, but they may take a little longer.

Not in reality. Some guys use 10" wool buffing pads on a rotary and can cut all the paint off the car in a heartbeat. It's not just the size of the pads that control the time aspect of your results. It's the size of the pad, the back plate, the polisher, it's power and the polish, coupled with your technique that determines the time it will take. All of those variables affect time.

I was able to remove swirls on my old 07 G6 GT that went through 4 years of bad washing techniques and car washes. It took forever, but it was 4 years worth of swirls. My point... The pads work. Just takes patience and the right technique. In addition Adams offers video assistance via Junkman, Adam, or Dylan. I found these products from the Junkman on You Tube. I met Adam at a detail clinic and he demonstrated the products and gave tips and advice. That speaks volumes about Adams Polishes.

Well the pads aren't 7.5" so that right there shows you that he has no first hand experience with the products to begin with and thus its not even worth your time or mine attempting to dissuade him from his preconceived notions about our products. Some people are hard set in their ways, and simply based on the tone of a post like that you can tell hes made his mind up without ever touching our stuff. Ignorance is bliss... feel free to continue to be "happy" :lolsmack:

This is why we include the "light of truth" photos and why they don't. Your swirls and scratches can run, but they can't hide from the "light of truth."

Did Evil C5 buy a Cobra? As already mentioned, there are people like you mention on seemingly every forum, several on some of them, and like Junkman said, they always bash other products and technique. It's a futile task arguing on the internet.

Junkman is correct. Most products will do as they say, if you know the technique. (not including once a year car wax, or "Miracle Products). I like Adams products because they are easy to use, and they work for me. I get the results I want. I love Adams customer service, and if I get something I don't like or don't live up to my expectations I send it back for a 110% refund. Which I have never done. I usually end up ordering the gallon refills.

Yea i did not reply to the thread, but i did send the OP of the thread a pm and this sites link and some of the info that you guys have posted and passed it on to him and stated that i didnt wanna reply in his thread anymore, because it wouldn't only cause a bigger Pi**ing match and I didn't want that. Hopefully he takes my offer and signs up on here.

Thanks for all the insight on this guys:cheers: Like i stated I by no means can use a PC good, but reading this info is giving me more and more confidence to buy the Adams Kit and try it.

I really dont see any hate in the response that was quoted. Nor do I see ill motive. The reality is that technique works well for many people (5.5" low pro pads) on a DA like the PC to maximize correction. I am imagining that post was quoted from a forum where a good majority of members are professional detailers or HARDCORE enthusiasts.

The reality is that polishing paint is an art and there are no set rules. So use whatever works for you and what you enjoy. If thats Adams pads, great ! If its 5.5" lake country pads, great !

another thing many people lose focus on is the fact that 99% of detailing forums are made up of people who are doing this for fun ! and are not making a single penny doing so. So use whatever you enjoy and everyone has a right to there opinion. Once you start spending someone else's money and working on somebody else's vehicle , then it becomes a different argument of what works best to maximize results.
