My vehicle is a 6 month old STi Hatch in Plasma Blue. I have washed it probably every 3 weeks or so but have not done any claying/waxing or anything outside of very basic wash done by a pro detailer locally here who used a foam gun and had "decent technique" (discovered only by watching the Adam's videos and Junkman's stuff and comparing). The car currently has some very light swirls in certain portions of the car but not all. I also have venture shield on the whole hood and nose and parts of the side mirrors and rockers.
My question is whether it is ok to only polish certain parts of the car but not the whole car before applying wax to the entire car? Or should I polish the entire car and also wax the entire car. Of course, after claying the entire car and following the bible on 2 bucket washes.

Thanks very much in advance!
