Leather Conditioner Great on Leather BUT...

I'm having some problems with the Adams Leather Condish on my new Mustang. I used it this winter on my leather furniture and had outstanding results. Not so much on the Mustang however. It is blotchy with areas that are dull and areas that look wet like that cheap department store car interrior product.

I need to strip it off and re-apply something else. Ideas? It is blotchy on all my interior surfaces including hard plastic door panels, leather seats and recycled whatever the heck material the dash is. I thought it was fine to use on all interior surfaces. Where did I go wrong? I used the Interior cleaner first with great results. The conditioner was a disappointment though. Not sure why. I applied it with the foam applicator. I tried to swipe it off with a microfiber, but that resulted in a dull lifeless look. If I just used the foam applicator it resulted in too much gloss and blotchy areas of dull. I'm at a complete loss here.:snap:

Ive been doing ok with the LC, but i must admit...

i (lazily) kinda wish there was a spray on product of equal power and protection.

maybe its psychological, but a fine spray on/work-in/buff off just seems easier. again, no complaints about the LC (i use it for the entire interior thanks to the high SPF and LASTING matte finish...), but in the "uneducated days", i used to love spraying my 07 MONTE SS black leather seats with Meguiars and wiping it in/off. It was a breeze and kinda fun.

Just my 2 cents.

Again - the combo of the Leather and Interior Cleaner and Leather Conditioner is awesome.

glad everything worked out i've been following this thread because i had intentions of using these products for the first time this past weekend.

I'll tell you a little story. My wife does the leather interiors on both cars. She uses the round red sponges to apply the conditioner. Getting ready for a car cruise this last weekend, she figured the interiors weren't dirty enough to warrant using the cleaner first (she keeps them up) and just used the conditioner. Splotches? Yep. Repeat application. Splotches. Yep. Repeat application. Splotches? Nope! BUT that applicator was so dang dirty that she had to use dawn and clean it out. The moral here to my story is that the Leather Conditioner not only conditions the leather.......but apparently cleans it pretty darn good too! Great results.

:iagree:same here and i was using a brand new applicator after using the leather cleaner and interior brush.

I noticed the same thing this weekend. I got lazy with the cleaner and just hit some spots with the conditioner only. My red app turned black too. I didn't notice any blotches though, but my interior is really light tan.

i noticed the blotches on my light tan interior, leather conditioner is powerful and awesome... the cleaner!? wow, i didnt even realize how dirty my seats were they still looked brand new to me :lolsmack:

My car was never touched with any product except Adams. What is a "wrt"?

Next time I will dampen the red foam applicator first before applying the LC. And quickly follow with a dry microfiber and see how it goes. The problem I had was that every different material used in my interior absorbed the conditioner at different rates. And because leather is a natural material it too absorbed at different rates.

The damp microfiber evened it all out. It now only has a hint of a shine, which is how I prefer it to look. When my interior gets a little dirty, I'll hit the interior first with 50% LIC next time. That stuff cleans like no tomorrow.

I forgot to mention.....my chrome and rubber pedals were toast. I used the carpet cleaner on them with the Boars hair upholstrey brush and they now look like new.

I just got a shipment of Buttery, Metal Polish #2 and some hex applicators. We know what that means for this weekend. I also got Volume 7!!!! Great video! That 62 Vette is just incredible.

Thanks again!

Yeah, the interior in the Impala is dark gray. Shows the splotches off big time. Looks all new and shiney now.

Pretty much all the products are heat sensitive actually.

Try some of the suggestions offered and let's see if we can work through them.

My car was never touched with any product except Adams. What is a "wrt"? Should I neutralize the surfaces with a damp microfiber after using LIC before applying the LC? Also, I'm going to try to hit everything with a damp terry cloth to see if it removes some of the nasty gloss. It strikes me very weird that my leather couches look stupendous, just a hint of a shine. My interior on the car looks like that old high gloss armor product. One of the reasons I wanted to use the Adams LIC on my interior. I don't need to be blinded by glare. Something isn't adding up. Maybe I applied too much product? I'm 99% sure it is user error. :xfingers: Also, I left the product in my hot garage by accident one day and noticed it turned beige instead of cream. Maybe the product is heat sensitive?

Did you clean the dash with Leather & Interior Cleaner first?

Also post application of the conditioner try wiping the dash with a dry towel. The odds you got the application perfectly even by hand are slim and none... sometimes it takes an extra wipe down to remove the 'high spots'

:help:Tried going over it again after dry. Looked even more blotchy and too much gloss in some areas.

Actually I think it's Ford's cheap interior. Did I say that? The honeymoon with this car is fading fast. Vinyl is one thing, but hard molded plastic door panels? Dash made from recycled materials? Give me a break Mullaley!!!! I paid a premium price for a leather interior!!!!!!!

You get what you pay for... Mustang isn't a "premium" car. My G8 has plastic and vinyl all over it too. :o If the Mustang had a leather dash and no vinyl, it'd be sold for thousands more.

Try taking a MF towel and spritzing with the leather and interior cleaner and wiping down the surfaces that are blotchy. Sometimes previous products or stuff that you use in your wash gets on the seats and causes issues like you're experiencing. On the hard plastic, strip the products clean using APC and then reapply.

After the interior cleaner your supposed to wipe the surface with a wet rag to get the cleaner off. Then apply the conditioner. I sometimes get the splotches too, but it seems to even out after some time.

And the camaro's interior is also made of the cheap plastic.

Sometimes you need multiple applications of the conditioner before it is absorbed equally on all surfaces to get a uniform look. We've all been there. Try that first. If not, you've got a 110% money back guarantee that's sure to help!
