scrmnwrx Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hello everybody! Just last week I picked up a new car and I need new car products that are high quality. Definitely going to pick some up from Adam's line, just not sure which ones I need. I was thinking The Premium Hand Polish Kit: Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover Polish Adam's Revive Fine Hand Polish Adam's Detail Spray Adam's Clay Bar 200 gram with Storage Jar Adam's Double Soft Microfiber Towels Adam's Buttery Car Wax Adam's YELLOW Hex-Grip Car Wax Applicator Adam's ORANGE Hex-Grip Polish Applicator Adam's BLUE Hex-Grip Polish Applicator Adam's Brilliant Glaze Adam's Leather & Interior Conditioner Adam's Leather & Interior Cleaner -Now, in what order should I apply these above mentioned polishes/waxes? -Do I need the leather conditioner and cleaner since the car is new? Thanks everyone. I would watch the videos buy I mainly browse from work and work blocks them. And I currently do not have a Porter Cable, but I will probably end up picking one up in the next couple of weeks.
goheels Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 If you are picking up a porter cable within a few weeks, getting the hand polish kit is a mistake IMHO.

PC or apply by hand? Some products work much better with PC than by hand. Others are applied by hand very easily. Do yourself a favor and pick up a kit with the PC in it. When I bought my new car this year I made the mistake of trying to put all these products together a little at a time. A kit would have saved me plenty of cash. The choice is your though. This might give you an idea where to start, others will chime in I am sure. What kind of car did you get?
Guest Jay.B Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 First to AF!! And watch the videos before you start. Youh should get them on DVD with whichever kit you order. It will save you time and lots of usueful tips in those videos. They are an amazing tool when detailing. The perfect interior kit is a great kit as well to get your interior started off the right way. The leather conditioner has an SPF in it and will help protect your leather and interior plastics and vinyls for years to come with regular use. It depends on which way you go, PC or by hand, on the order. You want to always start with a good wash and then use the clay bar. Then it just depends from there on what you want and how bad your paint is. Best advice I can give: decide first which method you are going with (hand or PC), then we can help get you started and get you on your way to that Adam's shine However, I do agree with these guys, once you use the PC you aren't going to want to ever do it by hand again. Plus, the PC gets your paint closer to perfect, so it would probably be the best way to start. Good luck and again welcome .
Chris@Adams Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 :welcomebanner: What car did you get? And yes you want to treat your new seats! And the LC is great on all interior surfaces! Watch the videos!Detailing Videos Adam's Leather & Interior Conditioner - 16oz.
scrmnwrx Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 I just picked up a 2011 Subaru WRX Limited in the World Rally Blue. I guess I should just get the PC starter kit for $359.99 and be done with it. I just don't know if I'll need to use it every weekend, though. Does the starte kit have everything I need to treat the paint to its best shine or do I need to add on a few different waxes to get the deepest and clearest shine?
Redvenm Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Great choice in cars, I love WRX!!! Choices choice choices, seems like you are on the right track. You got the DS in there, tho one bottle will go quick. How often will you wash? weekly? monthly? Be very careful not to introduce micro scratches to that beautiful blue paint. Watch some videos on proper washing. How are you gonna dry? Again, careful what you use. Spend some time watching some videos and plan your line of attact. When you can, post some pics of that WRX
scrmnwrx Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 I plan on washing once a week as I do with all my vehicles. I can't drive with a dirty car... big pet peeve of mine. I typically will do it on Friday after work or Saturday morning. I was planning on using only micro fiber towels to dry and hopefully not put any scratches in the paint. I love the fact that the paint is blue and I can just use blue painters tape on long road trips to masque off the front end and mirrors to eliminate any rock chips. I'll post up some pics tomorrow. Right now I have to get some road tar off from the fenders and doors. Ran into some construction yesterday. I was so ticked off and there was no way for me to turn around or get off from the main road. 1/2 mile of pure hell.
Redvenm Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I was just quickly looking at the kit you mentioned, the next one up, Premium. I know it is a whole lot of mula but how well are you gonna take care of your new beauty, it is a personal choice. Consider this. Premium has... More double soft towels Glass cleaner Glass towel, yup you will need it ...no streaks or fibers Interior cleaner and conditioner Wash bucket with grit guard Wash soap Wash pad Great white drying towel Waterless wash Waterless wash towels Under Carriage Spray Americana...its the bomb This is a great value. You will easily use it all!!! Just my .02

I was so ticked off and there was no way for me to turn around or get off from the main road. 1/2 mile of pure hell. Careful, they are not all the same. I have tried many and thought they were great until I got a good look under some lights one night. Even the very expensive, borderless or silk edged ones. By all means do not get anything from your local auto store or department store. I say this from experience. I have a 2011 GS Corvette magnetic red, started much the way you are right now. Bought mf towels from store, mf wash mitt, chamois, etc...OMG I was horrified at the damage it did. Choose wisely my friend.
scrmnwrx Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Oh oh... I bought some of the yellow microfiber towels. I thought microfiber was microfiber, similar to a circle being a circle. Man, this is becoming more expensive than I thought... D'oh! lol
scrmnwrx Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Can you guys please help me get started? I don't know if I can dish out the dough for the Premium PC kit @ $549, the starter PC Kit @ $349 is enough dough for me to lose sleep over, but once I'll see the shine on the car I'll be fine... Let's take into consideration that I have zero cleaning products at home, what else do I need and what is the best, most cost efficient way of me buying these products? I never knew that quality products cost this much, but the end result shows just that, so there is justification to it. Even the microfiber towels (I did a search on here on them) surprised me. Now I have to go back to the store and return my 15 pack of microfiber towels for $15.
StormChaser Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 What I did to slowly break the bank was I bought the hand polish kit and interior kit. If you have a new vehicle it shouldn't be that badly damaged ** knocks on wood ** - if it is...then you may just want to get the PC kit. Detail Spray and at least two MF towels and a great white drying towel is what you need. I'd recommend at least one wax and applicator. You can check out the daily specials to catch deals on the stuff you will need. Oh, and Welcome!
Bill-V8V Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Oh oh... I bought some of the yellow microfiber towels. I thought microfiber was microfiber, similar to a circle being a circle. Man, this is becoming more expensive than I thought... D'oh! lol Keep them and use them for dirty jobs like the engine bay and wheel wells, just don't use them on your paint. As far as how to save money the best thing to do is buy products by the gallon, it will save you a lot of money in the long run. The APC can be cut 50/50 with water and still be strong enough for most cleaning. And don't overlook Buttery wax, it is extremely cost effective, a bottle of that will last you a long time and it looks great. And the bottles of polish will go a long way, until other people start asking you to fix their paint too
scrmnwrx Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Car is brand new, just picked it up this past Thursday, has just a shy of 300 miles on it primarily due to pleasure cruising. I need to get a carwash soap, some towels to clean and dry, waxes and the PC kit. Should be a no brainer, but I NEVER in a million years thought I'd be spending this much on car detailing stuff... lol.

Another good way to do this is to call Ashley and ask her to put together a kit to fit your needs and your budget, she is great at that kind of thing
scrmnwrx Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 I was cringing at spending $150 on the hand polishing kit, I sold myself on the PC kit for $350, but I just know that I'll need another $125 just to wash and then wax/seal the paint, and then the leather care. That's it... I'm selling the car and getting a 1995 Acura Integra... and washing it with Autozone products... lol.

Why would you bother washing it Don't worry, we have all gone through exactly what you are going through right now, the first time you use the products you will be glad you spent the money

Bill-V8V Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Exactly what Bill said!Bill...wait...are you following me around again? It's Tuesday, it's your day to follow me
StormChaser Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Oh, yea..... I better get to it. You've been on here all dang day!
pjwoolw Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Bigger kit is better. In the long run you'll save yourself a few bucks. Welcome aboard!
scrmnwrx Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Alright, I think I'm going to order the Premium PC kit tomorrow. I wish the smaller pads, though, came with it for the smaller areas on the vehicle.
Redvenm Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Friend, we have all been there. Yup it does cost a pretty penny to do it right. Good advice to keep the cheap mf towels for dirty jobs, door jambs, ets, just not paint!!! If the premium kit is to much, understandable, go the route you are comfortable with. Remmeber in the long run it will cost you more. Try not to make micro scratch the paint until you get all the proper supplies. In the meantime...
scrmnwrx Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Are there any coupons or discount codes going on right now? Heck, even 10% could save me a bunch of money on that Premium kit.
