Lint on Convertable top

Question

Hey Guys,

After a nice (short) detail this weekend, I noticed that my car wash pads seem to be leaving lint behind on my top after the cleaning. it's a cloth top so I can't really dry it with a microfiber towel, any reccomendations on how to avoid / clean this?

Kind regards,

Rick

Personally, I wouldn't use them on a rag top... I'd use my boars hair brush and car wash or perhaps a slightly stiffer brush.

Grab a lint roller. I prefer the 3M ones...

That's what i was thinking, but use the same brush I use on my wheels? I have an old nylon (soft) one that maybe I'll try.

Never use a wash mit of any kind on a fabric top. It will always leave crap behind. I don't even use soap on my convertible top or customer cars' tops and only clean fabric tops with a soft brush and RaggTopp cleaner, then treat with RaggTopp spray protectant.

Once the top is dry and prior to spraying the aerosol protectant, I always make sure to remove any lint or dust and that is best done with a lint roller or one of those lint brushes that are reversible. Here's one of my tricks.....take some blue or green painters tape, wrap it around three or four of your fingers sticky side out and pat off the dust and lint.

I always wash my viper with the top down, then you don't have to worry about getting stuff on the top. Also remember, if you wash your top, leave it up long enough so it can dry out or you a Master Blaster to dry. If you put down a wet top and leave it, it can mildew and mold up on you fast. They get expensive to replace.

Ok, stupid question. How do you keep from getting the inside soaked when you do this? I know I'd end up with water everywhere if I tried this.

Wow your crazy! I would never think about washing a conv with the top down.

A lint roller works pretty good

Like Eric, I too will wash my convertible and my Targa with top down/roof off respectively. It's a lot easier than you think!
