Imron Paint....

roushpwrd

Question

I was wondering if it is safe to do a complete detail on Imron paint the same as one would do on a car with clearcoat? Clay, swirl and haze remover, machine polish and finally machine wax? A friend wants me to detail his 1967 GTO and I told him I would ask if the process I use is safe. It has Imron paint on it. Thank you!

Check to see if they painted it with 5000 or 6000. If they used 6000 its base coat clear coat.
Thank you...I will be sure to ask him if he knows. At the same time I want to thank all who took time to reply to my question. I have been so busy I keep forgetting to check out the forums.

I have been away from the site for a bit but I am thankful for your opinions. I'll check out the condition of the paint before I commit myself. If I do it, I'll post pictures....I want to say the year is a 1967 and it is a Black Pontiac GTO....it looks awesome as it sits. Thank you for your feedback!

I don't see why not... I believe it's just a really hard paint right? It may take more work to complete, but I believe it should be more than doable. Keep in mind, it'll probably turn your pads the color of the car though.
