What to do with my old paint?

MitsukiGT

Question

Hi all, I'm almost at the point where I'm ready for wax. I have an old 1966 GTO, the paint appears to have been neglected a very long time. So I want to know what products to use and in what order.

I have revive polish, MSW, Brilliant Glaze and Americana. I was thinking about using them all in that order. Is that OK? If so, I put the revive on with a PC?

I can't believe how just the FMP has brought depth back to this old paint. So far I just used clay bar, swirl and haze, and FMP.

Thanks

I thought revive was the "hand polish" variant of FMP. But I am sort of new to this, so I could be wrong. It probably would not hurt to use revive next, but I'm not sure what you would gain. The question is, can you use revive under MSS? I don't know.

If you have used FMP on the PC, then hitting it with Revive is up to you. It is more of a 'paint cleanser' and on a dark colored car can a little more 'pop'. It can be applied with the PC, but since it is a chemical polish (vs. abrasive polishes - SSR, SHR, & FMP) hand polishing works just as well.

If it is not a DD, you could skip the MSS and go straight to BG topped with Americana. You don't need the durability of the MSS and no cure time!
