Practice makes perfect

Question

So I was thinking you know how you have to learn the right technique and all. What is stopping me from going to used car dealerships and offering them a low price or free full detail on A car of their choice, "as long as the clear coat is still there" That would give people a load of practice.

Best way to get practice without charging people and without chances of getting sued is running down to the junkyard and picking up a couple of scrapped panels.

It's great because you get to keep it, and also see your technique grow little by little as will your confidence.

I agree, get a junk hood, black is best, and put it on some saw horses and have at it. Try to burn the paint off it. Get a feel of what it takes to ruin it. You can even get it resprayed at a later date and just keep reusing it to try different polishers and techniques. You can scratch it and try to get the scratches out, you can stick gum to it and put tar on it. Have fun with it.
