Laguna

Question

NOTICE: This was an attempt by myself and I take ZERO responsibility if you follow the below methods I used. I did what I did because the owner allowed me to and it is a WHITE truck. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND never doing this on a dark colored vehicle.

So I am detailing my directors truck this weekend. Today I got the engine/wash/clay/wash done. Tomorrow is the polish/wax and interior.

His wife ran over some wet road paint and had it all along the left side on the lower half. A claybar was appearing like it was going to take a good hour and ruin clay in the process.

My methods that worked (keep in mind this is a WHITE truck)...and yes, this was on the paint:

  • Soak the paint in APC.
  • Take a tougher scrub brush (don't die on me)
  • Elbow Grease (:help:)
  • Spray more APC
  • Claybar
  • Rinse off

Still alive? OK. I know this sounds BRUTAL, BUT IT WORKED!!!! The yellow paint is ALL gone. Keep in mind, this was a WHITE truck. Yes, it did swirl the **** out of it. Good news is? I am buffing it tomorrow. It was worth it. However, APC + Clay does not mix. It DESTROYED the piece of clay I was using.

Pics will follow tomorrow night once done with the detail. :)

My wife just ran over two spray paint cans thursday been trying to figure out pay the insurance deductible or try buffing it out. Unfortunately the red can ruined her hub caps, wheel wells, tires and three quarter panels. The white paint flung up and hit the hood, roof, 2 quarter panels, tires and wheel wells. Im thinkin im paying the deductible:willy:

I drove through a road paint dust cloud in June. The State of Georgia was painting lines on a nice windy day. The entire passenger side of my charcoal Yukon XL is speckled with white road paint! Looks dusty/dirty even after a wash. Luckily it is coming off with clay, albeit very slowly. I have clayed teh front fender and it looks good as new. I would hate to have to resort to these methods on a dark colored vehicle.

I'm sure glad it worked for ya. I think on a darker vehicle (especially if it was my own) I would have bit the $20 and massacred an entire clay bar on that stuff. Just thought about taking that brush to my black truck....then I puked. Haha.

I think this brush is what my dealer used when they prepped my car!!

As luck would have it I told the sales person DO NOT PREP my car. Yes it was water spotted etc. from sitting on the lot. After doing a two bucket wash the car was swirl free and still is after 3 months and many washes doing it the Adams way. So glad that I found the sight.

Guest Gone & Forgotten

s'ok. My boss has parked his 2004 Machine Silver Corvette (got it with 20k on it - after being garage kept for 6+years) under a tree in his driveway - leaves road grime, bird bombs, kids ram bikes into it so forth... and is too lazy to bring it to me for a detail.

your scrub brush to my eyes - is like watching Friday the 13th (the 1970's version) all over again. I've seen ugly - every day I go to work.

Would like to see how that worked tho. I would have tried an Adobe sponge first tho - and bug-tar remover - at worst, a bondo applicator (soft) to knock the paint spatter millage down, then go back with the adobe.
