Captain Slow
Well after using my old Nokia phone for seven going on eight years I've decided to get with the program and get a Smart(er)phone. Twice this year my family and I were out in heavy weather and were dependent on news radio for storm updates. They had it wrong both times, putting my family and me in danger. I decided it would be worth the extra $$ to be able to access instant weather info immediately. I'm torn between getting an HTC Inspire 4G now or waiting on an iPhone 5. Your thoughts and/or opinions welcomed. How old and out dated is my current cel-phone? Here's a pic of me using it to call into the office. I was calling to say I was running late after an early morning Waterless Wash and Detail Spray session.
J Tegeler
Which carrier are you with Paul? I am a big fan of the android platform, if you are with US cellular I will know each model that they have to offer very well and can give opinions based on what I have used and seen. You'd think I'd have US Cellular since I'm such a big White Sox fan, go figure.
pjwoolw
Paul my Iphone has been the most useful and durable phone I've had. I'm pretty hard on on these things and I'm really surprised the Iphone has survived. I'm a big Green Acres fan. Nice pic!
J Tegeler
AT&T. You'd think I'd have US Cellular since I'm such a big White Sox fan, go figure. Make a Trip to Iowa and I will hook you up with some phones and cases and such lol. But a very popular choice for all carriers has been the Galaxy phones. HTC is my personal favorite brand. J Tegeler
I dont think you would be dissapointed with a droid nick..Motorolla is finnaly making the droids and going with dual core processors, the phone runs so smooth!
Chewy
I have not used an HTC phone i did not like Oh I have... It was the phone right before I got my iPhone in 2007. It was a windows phone and slid open. What a POS it was. That being said, my wife has an HTC Desire and it's pretty good. Camera blows chunks though. What ever you do, do some research and play with them all. iOS5 is coming out in September or October for the iPhone, and with that comes many really neat changes that were a long time coming IMO. Notifications are a billion times better than current ones which is HUGE! Make sure what ever you buy has a GOOD camera. You'd be surprised how often you'll use it when you have it. Don't get all bunged out over mega pixels. The sensor size it what matters. The more light it catches, the better the picture. I've had every single iPhone since they came out and have loved them all for one reason or another. Blackberry has a new phone coming out soon too which looks pretty good. Blackberry's are pretty bullet proof and have always been known for their security. I am going to look at a windows phone next time for my wife. I truly believe it may be the best phone for her right now.

whatevah
my family has been with AT&T/Cingular for a while, I got the Samsung Captivate the day is was released to stores and my mom has an iphone 4 AND a Samsung Infuse. I'd say get the Inspire or the Infuse, both are good phones with better batteries than the older models (the Infuse has a very good battery but it's more expensive). I'm not the type to upgrade every time I can, instead I prefer to find something I like that works well and use it for years. I've waited 5 years to upgrade, I guess another month won't hurt. AT&T has dropped iPhone 3 to $39 upgrade. Sounds like their moving out inventory to make room for iPhone5. So Chewy, how's the camera on your iPhone? Team Adam's
I've been extremely impressed with my HTC Evo 4g on sprint, assuming the same 'guts' occupy most of the HTC phones on the ATT network, save for some CDMA hardware swapped for GSM then I'd have no qualms about recommending anything HTC. My lens is getting messed up now thanks to my 10 month old son. No one will tell you anything about the 5 because no one knows. There are only rumors. Apple's usually pretty tight lipped like most companies.
Captain Slow
Well everyone it took 3 months, but I took the plunge and went for the HTC Inspire 4G. The change from my old Nokia to this phone is like comparing the Spirit of St Louis to a 747; night and day. I'm really digging this modern technology. Sent from my HTC Inspire whilst sitting on my couch.

Guest Gone & Forgotten
Had an Iphone 3g for 2 years, when it was time, I ditched it and got a Droid X - had that for a 15 months. I hate it. Wife got a Samsung Fascinate - Hates it! Anything Android is CRAP in my opinion. Those who disagree have never used an iOS device. The Iphone is way less problematic and buggy. My phone is always spying on me (what I call it). Everytime I go to do ANYTHING on it, I can't because 20 other apps are using my system resources (memory, cpu, connection) for their own agendas - to hell with my needs. I'm not into hacking so I have no plans to ROOT my phone. I paid $200 for the phone and pay Verizon $180/mo. with my wife's work discounts (22% off the bill). - Wait for the iphone5. See if it has any bugs before you buy - give it a few weeks after release.
