polishing project at work

BUCKET

Question

Long story short I do design work and made a program to cut out CH-47 sildouette for 100th shipped. well after the vp of the company seen a polished version of what I did. I am now tasked to hand polish a 3' diamater aluminum company logo. I have already wet sanded it to 2000 grit and now on the polish/buffing part. My fingers can only handle so much. I have a PC and regular and micro pads.:pc: Any chance I can use the micro pads to polish out the mirror finish? other wise I am doing it by hand and there is no time to order anything else to help me polish it. This is going in the main conference room. Anyone have a good idea to save my fingers?:willy::help:

Thanks

You mean the 4 inch pads on a drill? Sure, I've used them on all kinds of things around the house. Be advised, though, that working thise into small areas a t high speed (on the drill) can tear the pads up fast.

You might also want to try one of those little polishing pads on a dremel tool, if you have those available.

Sure the drill will work, but it'll eat the pads so make sure they're reimbursing you. Most polishers will use a large bench grinder with wool pads and rouge to do the major cutting and then polish it up at the end with a product like Adams Metal Polish 1&2.

To keep it nice, spray it with clear after a wipe down with IPA.

Thanks, they have bought all stuff so far. we have a paint shop here and I suggested clearing it already. We will see if that happens, may not go with tearing up my 4" pads. Ended up doing natrual finish with 120 grit on backround and only will be polishing the two other parts.
