bjoeaull
Thought I would be a nice son and stole my dads black sierra denali pick up for a detail. He uses this along with another vehicle as his daily drivers. Hes kinda rough on his trucks. He was in the coal mining business all his life until recently so he uses his trucks no matter how nice they are. So its only got like 25k miles on it, but needs a correction badly. Like I said he doesn't worry too much about things like paint on his trucks so it needs some polish lovin! I will get some pics of the before and after as I go. I plan on spending a week or two doing this so it will be a kinda long process, its a big ride, and I'm fairly busy. I will get it as nice as I can, prob won't be 100% perfect cause I know it won't stay that way, lol. I considered getting the bed lined in linex or something, anyone know what this might cost. Its pretty scratched up. Anyways stay tuned. Edited September 1, 2011 by bjoeaull

Bill-V8V
A spray in bed liner should be between $350 and $500 depending on the size of the bed and if you want the bed rails done. At least that is the price range around here.
bjoeaull
thanks, never looked into a bed liner before, never owned a truck myself! Thats roughly what I thought
Redvenm
If you go the spray liner route, he is gonna love. They are very durable and last a long time. Without a liner as you know, it gets very scratched and looks horrible. The liner changes this and looks as good as new. I love them. bjoeaull
I know, his bed looks like crap. I should get it done for him while I have it. We have a local place in town that does it, think its the linex one but can't remember

bjoeaull
so the interior is in really good shape, expect for the plastic wood around the console where the cup holders are. Just kinda scratched up. Anyone ever polished anything like that, and if so any tips. By hand or pc, or drill? If so, tape things up so theres no mess, I already cleaned it up on the inside so I would really hate to have to do it again, lol
bjoeaull
so I sold the srt8 the other day! And more great news, my dad decided to hand down his denali to me! So now the polishing is gonna get kicked up a notch now that its gonna be for me! lol. Extremely grateful, and the kids are excited, they love the truck. So now we look like the denali mafia at my house with twin black yukon and sierra denali's!!! Anyone have ideas on polishing the the fake wood console pieces? Bill-V8V
Just tape them off and use a hex applicator with Revive, if that doesn't have enough cut just add a drop or two of FMP to the Revive. Then a little BG and you'll be good to go
bjoeaull
I don't have revive yet, can I start with fine polish, maybe add something to it to thin it?

bjoeaull
Thanks Bill, could I try FMP and thin it with something you think? So the outside paint looks pretty good, besides random scratches here and there. I am thinking of using focus pads and SHR on all random scratches and hoping that I can then do the entire vehicle with FMP. Thinking it should not need anything harsher but we'll see I guess. Then thinking machine wax. I hope theres time for BG and American but who knows.

bjoeaull
Well, kids have been sick all week, couldn't go to daycare so I have had zero time to start detailing the truck. Hopefully in a few days I can start, pics to come I promise. I did get my front windows tinted to match rear, and I put some new weathertechs in front and back. I also ordered a black billet gmc emblem for the front grill to replace the red one. Also will be removing all rear emblems to clean it up. Ill try to snap some pics. I have an appointment to pop out a few dings and getting a bed liner sprayed in. So I have been busy this first week of ownership! haha

bjoeaull
The truck before is not really all that bad, no chips, or rash! Just a lot of random scratches similar to the ones in the photos. I only took pics of a few for examples. I am having the dings in the bed removed as best they can, and then having a spray bed liner put in on monday. After that hopefully I can start correcting once the kids feel better and they go to daycar!

Fierce5
Congrats, I love the Sierra in general and the Denali specifically. I definitely recommend putting some sort of mats under the kids seats Edited August 26, 2011 by Fierce5
bjoeaull
Congrats, I love the Sierra in general and the detail specifically. I definitely recommend putting some sort of mats under the kids seats I know, in my wifes denali, we put black towels down, and a car seat protector. I will atleast maybe pick up some black towels to put under them so they dont wear the leather for sure. Its not our family car, but they do ride in it.
