How do I remove water spots from Aluminum trim?

The metal trim on my wife's 03 VW beetle convertible has water spots on it. I brought some Mothers Aluminum polish and tried it. The micro rag turned black so I assumed I got the right stuff but the water spots are still there. Not sure what to do now.

Adam's metal polish 1&2 should do it.

 

Did you try to claybar the stuff off? I would think that if the M-brand polish couldn't do it, a claybar wouldn't help, but it is possible.

I haven't tried anything else after the metal polish. I figured I should reach out for some help before I mess it up LOL

All of the car products I use are Adams! I just don't need metal polish for my 5th Gen Camaro so I went over to Pep Boys to look for something for the trim on the bug.

Adams clay works amazingly on getting water spots off chrome trim. I then use the metal polish to shine that baby up.

What part of the car is it? There isn't any 'real' aluminum on an 03 Beetle that I'm aware of, its all faux-chrome-painted-plastic stuff as far as I'm aware.

the metal goes around the top of one door, around the back to the other door. It looks like aluminum but I could be wrong.

Maybe post a pic? Even if it is just plastic or a different type of metal, the claybar should still take care of it.

I will see if I can bring the camera home from work and take a picture. It could be plastic. I tried the clay bar with the detail spray and still the same.

Hey Dylan, No but i will try that next. Do I mix the white vinegar and how do I apply it?

Just spray/pour onto microfiber and wipe the area... flush with WW or DS afterwards.

Is it part #7 in this diagram ? If it turned your MF black I would try MP 1 and 2.

I don't think its part #7 but when I tried the mother's polish it did turn the micro black. By the way I returned the mothers polish and get a refund lol. I'm do to put in another Adams order soon so I will get some MP 1/2 and give it a try.

If Adams dosen't work...try the home-made remedy.

Baking soda w/water to make a paste or baking soda w/club soda to make a paste.

Throughly rub & then use 50/50 ratio vinegar & water & rub.
