6spdg37s
I am debating listing my bike on ebay as an auction. I am just curious how you received payment for this item and if you had any issues with it?
green6767
I've sold and bought both cars and bikes on Ebay. As a seller you need to know who you're buying from. They didn't have Paypal though back when I was selling. Or at least it sure wasn't a popular of a currency exchange as it is now on Ebay. Definitely ask for a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of at least $500 with 48 hours of the end of auction and full payment either upon pickup or in your hands within 7 days. I wouldn't take personal checks unless you can verify funds and the funds do indeed clear before title is handed over. Offical bank cashier's checks were how I collected payment or cash upon pickup. Paypal will also demand a percentage of your selling price so figure that into your asking price or make it known in your auction that the BUYER assumes all responsibility for the Paypal fees. Figure out what they are and either raise your price or state an amount. That is if they do decide to use Paypal. Often times any kind of Paypal transfers over a certain amount will have a mandatory hold before any of it clears into your account. Just be aware of that also. I wouldn't take any bids on a vehicle from any buyer on Ebay unless their feedback is 100% and check out what they've been buying and selling. I'd also not sell to anybody with at least less than a 10 feedback number on Ebay. I've shipped vehicles through couriers and freight companies. Good and bad experiences with the though. The drivers really tend to be quite careless with the vehicle on the trailer. If I were to buy one now, I'd pick it up. If they do want it shipped state that that is THEIR responsibility and you assume no responsibility or claim to the vehicle after it has left your possession. That's all I can think of off the bat here. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
whatevah
if you're not going to use the auction bidding, try listing it as a "classified" instead. a friend of mine just sold a Jeep that way last week. you get the photos and text just like a normal ad, but no commission charges! pay in person. cash or money order.
