gilmour foam gun question

smokemeister25

Question

i'd like to get a foamgun. maybe i'm confused but i was told by someone i think to get the metal one. i can't find gilmours website and was looking on amazon and found them for about 40 bucks but they're all quart size and i want the half gallon if i can find it.

are there different models that are all metal or are they talking about the fittings only or what? the half gallon size i expect to be a tad more expensive but it's not worth another 20 extra dollars to me i don't think

any advice or opinions would be appreciated before i order and find out i got something different than what i want

thanks

les

Can you send me a quote, as well? :D The low price of the gilmour is tempting, but... that's just more money being sent overseas :(

Search Adams foam gun....it's not entirely made in USA either, thats why they don't sell it anymore. Trust me, I would rather you buy Adams, just keeping you informed.

The MFG switched production to Taiwan shortly after Adam began selling them. I still have a couple USA guns left in stock! Get em now before they're gone!

i couldn't tell from the picture, but can the discontinued adams foam gun be adjusted for foam output like the gilmours or is it a fixed amount? if it's fixed does it put out the maximum amount of foam that the gilmour would put out on full foam?

The Adam's guns can be adjusted by changing out the supplied tips, but I leave mine wide open. I have a Gilmour II and leave that on the highest setting as well. I don't adjust mine, ever. It doesn't make sense to me.

Why would you want less foam?

I would get the Adam's one from Eric.

I have the 75QGFMR and it works good for me. Here's a trick with the gilmore one - Take the nozzle off and use a quick connect with the shut off valve. It works slicker than snot.

Yep, that's why I did. I did it by accident too, because I forgot to grab the pistol grip, and didn't even notice until I was done.

Yeah, buy the Adams one. Support the fam. But you'll have the same issue with made in the USA...because of that one piece that's made in China. The Gilmour description is Made in the USA, but it isn't all.

I just added the gun and the kits to my website, if you want to order, go to the link and shop online.

FREE shipping on either kit!

www.thompsonracing.us

Note: updating my website, so if you have an issue checking out, let me know. If you would like any other Adam's product listed to add to your order, let me know as I'm adding item by item and it's gonna take me a while! I'll throw the ones you need up first.

Eric, can I get a price on just the gun itself? I already have a fresh gallon of shampoo.

Nick, I can substitute the Shampoo for another product of equal value, if you want to go with a kit and save $! Put a note on the order and I'll adjust the shipment. I can do that on any order.

so, the 75qgfmr which is made of brass is CHEAPER than the plastic model? that sounds backwards. wonder why that is?

Ok I looked back at my receipt and I made a mistake the 75QGFMR was the more expensive one, but not by much.

Here is how i do my Amazon shopping.

I type in what I want. In this case I just searched "foam gun". I saw that there were a few different models so I googled them. I found a lot of threads similar to this one about which one to get and why?

My main question was why was the 75QGFMR more expensive than the Foam Master 2. You would think cause its the 2nd gen model it would be improved and better than the other one. Right?.... Guys?.... No? Just me? Ok well anyway, The descriptions on Amazon and the Gilmour's website don't really tell you much except that one has a dial. This is where Google is your friend.

I found that both are excellent models and nobody had a problem with either of them. It was just that for the extra $5 people were more confident in getting the brass model over the plastic.

Plus. I think Junkman has the same one. You can make your own decision. I tend to follow the herd on these things :lolsmack:

I literally just placed an order for the 75QGFMR on Amazon.

It was a few dollars cheaper than the Foam master 2 and it was made with brass instead of plastic

Any reason you want the 1/2 gal? Other than "more is better" reasoning? (usually my reasoning)

A quart should be more than enough. However, I only have a Civic. You could have a fleet of H1 Hummers I don't know about. :lolsmack:

the only reason i thought i'd get the 1/2 gallon is i figured i could just fill it half way up if that's all i wanted but if i wanted to wash more than one car i wouldn't have to ''reload''. i could probably get by with the quart size. i watched junkmans video of his and noticed he used a quart size and emptied it pretty dang quick... i saw a place on amazon for 39 bucks with free shipping. thought that was a pretty good price from what i found lookin around. have to make sure it's your model. was a bunch cheaper than ******** though.

no, no fleet of hummers here. but i do have 4 cars to wash. my denali xl, my wifes C300 mercedes, my 87 buick grand national T-top, and my 70 camaro z28. so i have too many cars to wash. actually, according to mama, i have too many cars PERIOD... :lolsmack:

but i beg good..... :D

sorry to be a dummy on this, but do i want this one... this is the brass fitting and adjuster

Amazon.com: Gilmour 75QGF4 Foamaster Cleaning Gun: Patio, Lawn & Garden

or do i want this one.... this one is all plastic

Amazon.com: Gilmour Foamaster II Cleaning Gun Quart 95QGF4: Patio, Lawn & Garden

they're the same price. does one hold up better or does one have the better foam adjuster? i'm old school and always think that brass would be the best but maybe i'm wrong on this. i'll buy whatever one you guys tell me to get since i've never used one.

i've seen that there are still places that sell the old adams gun but people want about 70 bucks for them. but adams doesn't sell or even seem to recommend them anymore. are they worth almost twice as much?

IMHO, don't get either of the ones you listed whether it be brass or plastic. Neither one you link has an adjustable foam setting, which I find to be a really neat/important feature on my foam gun. As mentioned earlier, get the 75QGFMR or equivalent (in terms of liquid capacity).

The second link he posted has an adjustable foam setting, that's the one that I use. It goes from A to E, with A being the least and E being the most. The adjustment is at the top, and it also says multi-ratio right on the bottle:thumbsup:

Les, it's just a foam gun, so I doubt you could go wrong with either. It's made of sturdy construction, and the Adam's soap is not volatile. Plus, if you rinse it out after each use, you'll be fine. I've never used the first one though, so I can't tell you about that one.

Half a gallon! Wow dude, that's alot man. You'll never use it in one wash unless you set it at E, every wash. Even if you do a 1:8 ratio, you'd be using 8oz of soap, just to foam. If that's what you want, then go for it! I haven't seen one with a canister that size before though.
