Keyed?!?!

MikeS

Question

I found what looks like a deep scratch along the side of my car when leaving work yesterday. Totally ridiculous.... I've taken more damage since buying a new car 8 months ago than I have on all the others combined in the past five years!

You can care for things perfectly, two bucket washes, fine wash mitts, premium protection products.....but it's all for naught in an instant when something like that happens. It almost makes me wonder "what's the point?"......

I know, I know.......:worth:

I'll post them tonight, even though nobody wants to see something like that. Hopefully I don't have to have the whole right side of the car repainted. Some panels are worse than others, so maybe I can just get by with the door and front fender (and simply have the rear quarterpanel wet sanded).

Update: Pictures (dirty car, haven't had a chance to wash yet...)

Ahh.

K I'm done. That is some nasty stuff man. You going to try wet sanding before you get it fixed just to make sure you can't handle it yourself?

On the keyed side try some green Severe Swirl Remover and the green pad. My brother-inlaw had the same problem on the same color vehicle. He lives about 400 mile away so when I went for a visit I brought the PC and products. The key mark was about 6 feet long and was not a slight scratch as he had told me. I worked about 90 minutes with the PC (wished I had my flex) and I was able to blend in the mark so you could only see it under the right reflection front an end angle. Straight on you could not see the scratch. I was surprise how much of the scratch vanished. Told him to visit me and I would put the flex to work. Wish I had pictures to show. The Severe Swirl Remover worked great.

So.... went out to get a repair quote yesterday, and ran a few other errands. Naturally, parking FAR away from all other cars whenever possible. Left my last errand to find another "gift" :explode:

Most of it looks like it will polish out, but the paint is scuffed through in a couple patches.

At least the tropical storm last night didn't leave me much to clean up! :willy:

I work with a woman (go figure) who came into the office one day and said she hit someone's rear bumper when she went to park, the lady was in her car talking on her cell phone. Anyways, she comes in and starts talking about it and goes "Isn't that what the bumper is for? To be hit once and a while?"

She must be from Italy! I have seen cars park in Rome just like the guy in the insurance commercial parks the Cadillac between the 2 Miata's! :willy:

Mike I feel your pain, just plane senseless. Just don't understand why some do things like keying, serves no purpose. Some are just so self centered now that there is no respect for others or there property. Hope you are able to polish and wet sand most of it out.

I didn't know what to say...

Good luck with the fix man, hopefully it's not too deep

people should go to jail for saying ignorant stuff like that. I think she's confusing bumper cars with the bumper on a car. I suggest a complete overhaul to the license testing system that must also include an IQ test and general car knowledge stuff.

I hate it when these stuff happens :mad::mad::mad::mad: like the idiot who hit my rear bumper while my car was parked minding its own business. people are becoming increasingly stupid, ignorant and disrespectful to peoples property. good luck eih the fix, hopefully the light ones can be buffer or wetsanded.
