So as some of you may know I have been doing headlight restoration at a local car accessory shop for some extra side money. Well the owner of the shop is my neighbor and a good friend however business as been slow for headlight restoration. Well I decided to venture out on my own and see what I can do as individual. I decided to create my own small business and promote the business by word of mouth and passing out business card that. The business cards are currently in the making at local print shop. Thanks to my family and friends I have ton of support. My mother even has helped out me out some. She recently purchased a used 2005 Hyundai Tucson and the headlights were heavily oxidized. I couldn't believe someone would even sell a car with headlights in this condition. Well she asked me if I could fix them up so I went at it. They came out great! She took the car back to the dealership to get her tags and the owner of the dealership was so impressed he told her he would be interested in hiring me for my service to help boost his sales. I even have the capability to accept credit cards over my cell phone using a free service I found here on the forum. So wish me luck! I know this isn't going to make me rich but It's going to be nice to have a few extra dollars around for when my little boy gets here in December. Oh and if anyone has any cheap marketing idea to help boost advertisement I am all ears!

Yes I am, I'm using 4inch pad kit with a corded drill and for those really bad spots I will be using 2000 grit sandpaper for wet sanding. I've done about 15-20 cars to date and every one of them has came out great! Thanks for Adam's Polishes of course!

awesome, I have been meaning to fix a few peoples headlights when I get teh chance. good to knwo my 4" pads will do the trick!

Jon business cards look fine, I've been thinking of a headlight correction business also. Have all of the supplies just need to get time and get off my lazy bones and do it.

I'm in Illinois so no competition for you officer.

Lol well good luck to you too! The nearest competition I have is 45mins away in Raleigh.

I'd suggest this:

Create a little "How to care for your headlights" sheet that gives some advice on maintaining the clarity (and also probably explaining briefly that it's very possible that the aging that caused the haze could very well cause it to come back in time -- set realistic expectations).

Next, put that note into a little "thank you" envelope with 5-10 cards. When you finish the job tell the customer to put their name and phone number on the back of the cards and that you'll send them something like a $5 Starbucks gift card for every referral that does business with you. It costs you next to nothing to do and gets people talking and showing off your work. Win-win.

Well my 500 business cards are done and I got the credit card reader in yesterday. Also got my first big client yesterday, a used car dealership.Currently there are three vehicles on the lot that need correction. Sounds like ill be his go to guy for headlights. So business is looking good!

great news Jon! how long does it usually take you to correct a set?

Really depends on the vehicle and the oxidation level. Usually somewhere around 30mins to an hour. Seems like cheaper the plastic the longer it takes. Hyundais seem to be the worse by far.
