dumb detailing questions from a beginner

OK... i know some of these questions are stupid, but if nobodys ever told yu the answer there's no such thing as a dumb question, right?

i've washed, dried, claybarred, washed off the claybar gunk, dried again... and now i'm ready to start buffin away... :pc:

so i spray my orange pad with some spray detailer and then make my iittle X on the pad with the swirl and haze remover or make little dots and then criss cross with the machine not putting so much pressure so the buffer doesn't stop spinning or so little that it spins too freely...

WHEW... ( talk about me being a little on the anal side about this stuff)

i suppose i should buff each product off before going to the next one right? or can i layer the next product on top of the last until i get to the last step and then polish em all off at once? so, should the swirl and haze step that should get all the little swirls and scratches out before i go to the next one right? if after doing that step and there's still some marks should i redo with more swirl and haze, or does the next step take them out too? and if i stick with the S&H how long and how many times should i stick with it before calling it a day and worrying about doin more harm than good

it's tough being a beginner. in the old days i would have just used my california duster unless there was mud everywhere and then spray detailed and then used one of those horrible acrylic towels i swiped from a motel in my mis-spent youth and called it a day. and i never had any swirls or marks or anything... :lolsmack: i swear... you couldn't see anything it was so perfect...

yep, in the old days ignorance was bliss. now i'm becoming a fanatic and spend 15 minutes with my glass ceaner and glass rag on the windshield. and that's just on the drivers side.... on the outside.... :help:

and yes, i've watched the videos, but nothing beats a little one on one help

thanks mucho. taking the hotrod out for the second time in the last year to an end of the year cruiz and it's fun to have people oogle it... i used to talk about heads and cranks shafts and horsepower and now i talk about ''i use nothing but adams stuff on it and i spent 5 hours on this little 2 x 2 section of the hood today ....'' :D

You dont have to buff off everty product once you finished, you can just continue with the next step. It will save you time and rags.

If your doing it properly with enough pressure and moving the machine slowly, yes it should take them all out.

If there are still some odd spots here and there, just do a pass over that section, no point in doing the whole panel.

If you have the patience and time, continue going; if not try to get it as best as possible..
