XQIZT Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 ...when you are filling up at the gas station, and the pump screen asks if you'd like a car wash? I always shake my head and chuckle before enthusiastically pressing the "NO" button.
DanFish Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Interesting gas stations you guys have, I've never seen that before!
Marylander Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I cringe. And then make sure I hit "no" -- I think some of them are kinda sneaky and are set up to make you "accidentally" hit yes when you're just trying to get to the point where the pump turns on.
mc2hill Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I look for the "oh hell no" button. Me too!
JHL88 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 that has happened to me before, at a gas station that does NOT have a car wash. or at least i didn't see one. i wonder how that works

InDepthAutoDetailing Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Luckily, around here, all the gas station car washes are broken. Most are now rented out to people offering to wash your car. I don't think that's any better though. Gas station car wash horror story: A friend of mine was pumping gas and all of a sudden he heard the most awful noise coming out of the car wash. A Chevy S-10 pulled out and had dents all over it and a broken windshield. Turns out he had a tie down ratchet strap in the back of his truck and the spinning thing in the car wash picked it up and beat the cr** out of his truck.
1anonly Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 The station I go to always asked me until yesterday. For whatever reason it didn't. Maybe the pump has a car cleanness sensor

Omg, that's horrible, but I admit that i laughed when I read it... Just picturing that tie down whipping around in there...
whiterp199 Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I am not going to lie if they are touch less I occasionally get a car wash especially in winter.

I also know someone that had a tie down strap in the back of his truck that was whipping in the wind going down the road and it went between the cab and bed and wrapped around the driveshaft. IIRC it broke his back window and of course a few dents and scratches.
Z71_Denali Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 that and when i pass by a car wash place where there's about 5 or 6 people towel drying a car with bath towels!!!
