Wen 10" Orbital Polisher vs. PC & Flex

PlasmaPlayer

Question

Given the massive price difference between a Wen and one of the other products, could someone tell me if they are familiar or have had experience with the Wen product? Also, do they work differently? I might have free use to one of these but would need to get 10" pads attached to it. Anyway, I haven't decided yet but if anyone could chime in on this product that would be great! Thanks in advance!:help:

I have not used the Wen unit, but I did have a similar Ryobi unit. There is no comparison between that unit and the PC. Those 'bonnet' machines are really just wax spreaders and do not have the power to perform any real paint correction. Those units are not much better than working by hand.

:iagree:

I had something similar awhile ago. It was great for spreading wax but that's it.

I believe the WEN 10" polisher uses terry cloth or simular material bonnets. If you pick up a piece dirt with those bonnets you may produce swirl marks. With the Adam's line we use foam pads which are more effective with his products. Also I think the WEN unit is slower in the RPM's. You get what you pay for in this case.

yeah, i looked at those before I knew anything about the process of a paint correction. Id say if you are new to it just to stay away from the wen and save up for a PC first, was way worth the time to wait for me and get it done correctly. Then once you feel comfortable with the PC then to move up to a Flex to get the final perfection that you want to achieve, that seems to be the way alot of people go on here that are new. I also am waiting to pick up a flex when the money is right, ive got my jeep to like 95% but that last 5 im going to need the Flex to finish her off, probably in the spring . Hope that helps man, Adam's products make it much easier to do as well if your new, especially with the video tutorials you can follow as you go!

i guess that would work, but I think it might just fling, idk my friend used a different 10" on his rig and with those bonnets it just doesnt work as well. If you can get a normal 10" pad without bonnets im sure it would work just be careful. Im sure someone will chime in thats tried it.

The bonnets are just for removal, the foam pads are for spreading/applying.

I know that, just sometimes they say you have to use bonnets with both on the cheaper ones, idk why but I always thought that was sketchy and stayed away. PC is just a safe way to go and efficient.
