Spider webbing

txredgt

Question

As I finished washing/drying the car yesterday I noticed that I have quite a few spiderweb patterns on the rear bumper. None of them are larger than a nickel but I would say I have about 5 or so seperate ones on the lower area of the bumper. The car is going on 10 years old now and I know you can't keep paint perfect, but what could be the cause of this? I have a suspiction that the bumper was hit at one time and they just repaired the plasic and repainted which is why they are showing up now. I had thought about getting a new bumper but this might seal the deal for that to happen.

Depending on the pics, it might just be the aging of the car. My mom's 2000 jeep cherokee had the same thing going on with the sides and rear bumper. Evenutually pieces started falling off so instead of her letting me fix it she traded it in for a new genesis lol.

I can get some later today. Its on the rear bumper on the low area near an exhaust cutout and out of sight to the untrained eye but its just an eyesore. I was mostly curious as to what the cause of them could be, from a bad paint/prep job or just over time its something that happens.
