70'sChevyGirl Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 My husband is trying to talk me into painting the inside of my rims on the 350Z to match the body paint. I sort of like them the way they are but I am not sure how they would look if they were painted. Any PS experts...please help me make up my mind. Thanks.
Redbaron Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Don't paint. Powdercoat. The only thing is finding a shop that can match the color. I for one am a huge fan of color matched accents on wheels.
70'sChevyGirl Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 I just don't want my car to look Hoopty!
bigcarrot Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'd get the center caps painted or something... dunno about the whole inside. If you accent it right it looks great. It's a fine line between tastefully done and overdone. I've seen people have the entire edge of the rim (Maybe 1" Wide) color matched to the body and that would look pretty cool on your car I think
Chewy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I wouldn't change a thing. I'm not huge on the matching thing. Less is more IMO. Chris
rpomeroy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm a stock guy too, but I'll see if I can give you a sampling with PS. The picture you have would lend itself to coloring the chrome / silver. is this what you want to see colored?
rpomeroy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Hope this is what you were describing. Enjoy
BrianT Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Rick great job on the PS! I would say leave them alone!! No need to paint.
butchman Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Rick great job on the PS! I would say leave them alone!! No need to paint. x2
Chewy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Hope this is what you were describing. Enjoy I think he wants to paint the black part copper. Just the opposite of what you did.
THE Mook Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'd say color match the barrels. Leave the face alone.
Grubrunner Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I think he wants to paint the black part copper. Just the opposite of what you did. Which would look good.
TK427 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I think you should powder coat the whole thing glossy black! No chrome or paint match
Frid Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I would leave them the way they are. But it's your decision that counts.
BrianT Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I think you should powder coat the whole thing glossy black! No chrome or paint match Good idea!!!
Grubrunner Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Even worse (IMO) I was wrong. You are right. Looks [insert here]. Leave em' as is.
70'sChevyGirl Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 I actually think he wants the black area behind the spokes powdercoated and not the spokes. The second pic...OMG!!! That will never happen. Thanks for the PS expertice!
rpomeroy Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I was wrong. You are right. Looks "like Leave em' as is. Funny
rpomeroy Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I actually think he wants the black area behind the spokes powdercoated and not the spokes. The second pic...OMG!!! That will never happen. Thanks for the PS expertice! Glad to help. It always helps to get a visual.
Golf for Life Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Do. Not. Do. It. Yes leave as they are OEM look is best IMO. And I just don't get the black wheel thing. But I'm just an old !@#$.
