DaveVY
Wait a sec, so I'm not supposed to rub my wash mitt along the grit guard?F Word Wash mitts should be agitated on a grit guard, I was just giving feedback on what I would do if I did not have a grit guard in the bottom. If you didn't have a grit guard then if you pushed your wash pad to the bottom you would be picking up the grit from the bottom of the bucket. Hope that makes sense. Bunky
Thanks guys. I'm in college right now as well. I'm just gonna order some, I don't wanna ruin ally hardwork into making my baby perfect. Please remember these tools all collectively reduce the chance of marring along with many good wash technique. Some detailing rinse out the mitt without PRIOR to even dipping in the rinse bucket. This adds even more safety than the grit guard so no panacea.

MichiganSRT8
Man, not gunna lie if your want to properly wash your car and not ruin all that work you put in polishing pick 2 up. Im a younger guy too and in college, so money is even tighter haha, but if anything invest in grit guards and go cheaper on the wash pad cause those grit guards have saved my finish as much as they can. I just picked up 2 more actually, 2 grit guards shipped like 25 bucks, its really worth it man.

Adamized
And be sure to have the rinse bucket as full as possible, preferably a full 5 gallon bucket and do NOT push the wash pad to the bottom of the bucket where the grit may be settling. And if the water is getting any color to it, dump the rinse bucket out and start again. Wait a sec, so I'm not supposed to rub my wash mitt along the grit guard? DaveVY
I would say at least just 2 bucket wash, grit guards help 25%, 75% being that of having a rinse bucket And be sure to have the rinse bucket as full as possible, preferably a full 5 gallon bucket and do NOT push the wash pad to the bottom of the bucket where the grit may be settling. goodmanXX3
two buckets; soak pads in clean bucket, add soap to pad over that bucket, throw dirty pad in bucket #2 when done and use another pad from clean bucket, repeat if a 3rd pad is being used. XQIZT
Hm. Save your pennies and at least get ONE and use it in your rinse bucket. You other option is to dunk a new fresh clean washpad into your bucket each time you need more soapy water. Honestly, my vette doesn't get that dirty so my washpads go a long way. I use a Merino pad for all the glass. Then I flip it over to the fresh side and wash above the beltline. All without needing more soapy water. Then I use a 9x9 pad for the lower portion. Flip halfway through, without needing to re-dunk in soapy water.
