Clear coat chipping...HELP

Integrity Detailing, LLC

Question

Ok here is my friends 2002 Honda Accord spoiler. As you can see, it is chipping/peeling pretty badly. It's only on the spoiler though. The rest of the car needs SSHR.

What should I do to correct this. I own a PC. Should I just start off with the SSHR? Or does she need to just get it repainted? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I just had a similar issue with a customer car. My issue was with an overspray issue and then removal of the vinyl stickers/pinstriping. My body shop man told me to purchase a device called a paint de-nibber. This will knock down the edges so you can wet sand it and get a slope on it. I am not saying to do this or not do it, I have never done it and did not buy one yet. So use at your own risk. I am just passing on what my body man told me to do. Talk to your local painter's supply for advice.

But sad to say, the clear coat is pealing, and without body work and repainting, it will likely continue. (Mac Tools Online Store - Paint De-Nibber File - Course)

Thats what i as thinking, huge majority of spoilers have no aerodynamic value anyways. minds well just get rid of the peeling eyesore.

True. But then you're left with holes in the trunk lid. To repair that will cost just as much as a repaint. Scuff it and shoot it matte black out of a rattle can. :D

Just repaint it using

Factory paint in a spray can I used it on my Sub Grill to match my Strut braces

They have How to Vids and all very simple, I was so impressed I am actually going to repaint my wifes rear bumper on her SUV using this.

Y'all are too funny!

Funny that removing it altogether was mentioned because the owner never wanted a spoiler in the first place. I think her dad added (the car was her high school graduation gift). Personally, her '02 Honda Accord EX coupe looks much better with it. Guess I'll be plugging those holes for her soon.
