Ford Escape Detail

Just finished up a detail today on a Ford Escape. It wasn't in too bad of condition. Just your usual dirty carpets after a winter in New England. The customer informed me the paint wasn't too bad, just wanted a good cleaning inside and out. When I inspected the paint there was tons of tar or asphalt along with sap all over, especially the rear of the Escape. With the SUV being white the owner never realized what had built up.

 

The customer didn't want too much in the beginning, however after I showed her how bad her paint was she was okay with me doing a 3 step polishing process. She was pretty disgusted when I showed her the clay bar with all the contaminants I pulled off. Her family was so extremely happy with the results they are scheduling some more details on their other vehicles when I can get back to them.

 

-APC & GWC on tires & wheels

-Shampoo with 2 bucket system and sheet rinsing

-Clay Bar with DS

-SVRT on tires and exterior trim

-SHR with PC

-FMP with PC

-MSS with PC

-CUC on carpets and seats

-SVRT on interior panels

 

I would of loved to put some more time and shine into it, but they weren't looking for that result. Total time was 5.5 hours with a quick lunch in between the interior and exterior steps.

Good job John...clay bar was trashed. Would have like to see what Iron Cut or Iron X would have brought to the surface on that vehicle, especially with it being white.

After looking at that clay John, it looks a little stiff. Must have been a cold day up there in CT.

 

Here is a little tip. Break off 2 pieces of clay, one for the big panels and one smaller piece for the small areas like the a-pillars. Put the 2 pieces in a bucket of warm water, and as you switch between the two, return the other piece to the bucket. This will keep it pliable and easy to fold over.....which it looks like you may have forgotten :)

Weather wasn't bad. About 60 degrees all day. This was a piece that was 1/3 of the original bar. It was only used on the lower end of the car and on the rear lift gate. I used another new piece for the rest. I did fold it around a few times. When I was done I squished it all together and was on the way to throw it out. Then I remembered I wanted to snap a quick photo of all the contaminants. So I had to unfold it a little.

 

It was a nasty bar in the end. This paint was definitely "rougher than a night in prison." LOL
