Kingsford Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 My weekend started off good on Friday but Saturday SUCKED! I woke up and it was a beautiful day, my truck really needed to be washed so I checked 3 websites. Weather Channel, sunny all day. Accuweather, sunny all day with a chance of rain around 2am. Weatherbug, sunny all day cloudy in the evening. All of them said it would be nice with no rain until next Saturday. So I thought ok... I'll wash it and just be home before midnight. I spent 5 hours washing, drying, doing trim and a minor detail with no polishing... SHE LOOKED PURDY! Key word is looked, because I drove out to see my girl around 4:30 and at 6 it was raining. Rained again around 11pm. Got home. Truck looked horrible again. So I was incredibly pissed and finally I just decided to wash it again the next day.... Sunday Morning... Wake up to my pager going off at 6:30am after going to bed at 2am. Couldn't fall back asleep so I just got up and did my thing, told myself I'd wash my truck around 10am. In the middle of REWASHING my truck (new neighbors next to and behind us think I'm F'n nuts )... "Does he wash he truck everyday?" I can hear it now... My girlfriend calls and says "Hey Easter Dinner got changed to 1pm we are leaving at 12:30 to go to my Grandmas. GREAT! I'll never make it and be done with my truck, I'm thinking. Well long story short I deserve an award... I think... Washed my truck, mini detail AGAIN, cut my hair, shower, put towels in the wash, got ready, got dressed and out the door on my way ...... ..... 1 Hour 43 Minutes. Can't wait for my new pads to get here so I can make her real shiny. Happy Easter!
DTrem13 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I washed/detailed my Mom's Malibu and detailed the inside as well on Saturday (I got a box of Adam's goodies that day), and washed/detailed my Charger today. The car's look great with all the extra stuff that came in the mail
07RS4 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Great job Jason. I hate when days go like that. It's also comforting to know that I'm not the only one that takes that long on a "quick" detail, haha. It's amazing the time we trim off the detail when we have something to do.
Doug123 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Yeah, 'quick' is a relative term when washing drying and doing normal maintenance detailing, at least for me. By the time I get the wash completed, dry with DS, blow out all the water with the Sidekick, and do all the door jambs and under hood water, and clean up it is 2 hours. BUT it looks great all the way around, and I don't get water streaks down the sides. Thank goodness for the Blaster Sidekick, it really helps.
Chewy Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Oh waaaa! I was washing mine when it started raining... I ended up claying it wet (in the rain though) like I usually do using Adams shampoo and water in spray bottle. I've NEVER had a car come through a winter needing so little claying though. Goes to show what a mild winter does for ya! Mine's all corrected and has two coats of AQS on it. I DO see a couple of spots that could use a little more FMP and a lighter touch to get it a bit more jeweled. I'll do that at some other time. Chris
ChargerMatt Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I got paid straight time for working Easter. That's how my weekend was.
70'sChevyGirl Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 My weekend, which was suppose to start Friday didn't happen. I got to sit at work ALL day with an IRS Auditor. I didn't get home til after 6 pm. So much for Friday. Saturday was a beautiful day in MI and I actually got to have a nice cup of coffee sitting on our back deck. Me, coffee and the birds. It was wonderful. Then the crazy fun began....laundry, shopping for a 3 yr old Bday gift, Bday party, grocery store and then watch the 2 and 3 yr old grandkids for the rest of the day while trying to make pies and cakes. Kids wear me out now. Geeeeeeeeeeesh. Sunday was another nice day. Coffee on the deck again. Showered and then took an hour drive to pick of my daughter and her twins. After I arrived home, I started to make veggie trays and other types of munchies. I had people start arriving at my house around 10. WTH, dinner isn't til 4. I cooked a Honey Baked Ham, Sweet Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes with gravy and dinner rolls. My favorite part was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Later I hauled my daugher and her kids back home and by the time I got back home I was totally beat. I am tired today.
Chewy Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Wow T, sounds like I need to come to YOUR house... Oh wait... Come pick ME up next year and take me to your house for the feast. I'm only about an 8 hour (16 hour round trip) from your house... lol My wife made a couple of new things she found on Pinterest or something. Pretty good. It was a serve yourself meal that we had around 11:30. Really just brunch... Inlaws and great grandma came over. Of course I worked in some detailing before and after that. lol Chris
Doug123 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Teresa, I guess they just wanted to be with you, chatting, etc. Maybe next year the daughter and grandkids will travel under their own power!
Diggerdan11 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Well this weekend was a pretty good one. Friday night after work went out for BBQ with my wife (my favorite type of food), then went to Home Depot to pick up all the lumber and parts I needed to build a gate. Saturday Morning I went to a storage auction, did not buy anthing because it was all crap. I then went home and my wife and I spent about 4 hours building a wooden gate from my front yard to my back yard so our puppy could not get into the back without our permission. Sunday I went up fairly early to my parents house to help my mom set up for Easter Dinner (my Dad is out of State on a job), I had to scrape a frozen snow burm off of their front porch (it is in the shade all day so the snow has not melted yet). I then spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning and trying to fix a couple shotguns. I shoot Competitive Clay Targets and have since I was about 8. I have 3 shotguns and all of them are broken right now:(. All with basicaly the exact same problem, Broken Triggers. We then had a great Easter Dinner with my mom, sister, and a few aunts uncles and cousins.
xkwj43z Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I got paid straight time for working Easter. That's how my weekend was. Same here, my security company doesn't recongnize easter as a holiday... hmmmm:willy:
JPEGXP Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Weekend was mellow for the most part. I had to work on Saturday, and it was mostly dead here at the dealership. I had a feeling it would be slow, so before work I packed up a few Adams products and figured I'd fuss with the SRX at work. That worked out well, I got it fairly well cleaned up, then helped my used car manager clean up his Escalade, and a friend of mine stopped by to hang for a bit. So I finished up with the cleaning, then went and basically hibernated in my office, and let other people attend to the tire kickers! Well, around 4:30ish we got a little rush of people out of nowhere! I grab one customer on the floor, and he tells me that we dropped the ball here at the dealership last time he wanted to buy a car, so he bought elsewhere! Well, 1.5 hours later I have him written up on a two car deal! It was a nice way to top off my work day. That night my GF and I decided to go to Church as opposed to dealing with the craziness on Easter Sunday, well we didn't know we where getting involved in an almost 3 hour mass that involved candles and tons of music! Sunday was nice, got up early and proceeded to wash the G8 so next weekend I can have it ready for polish. Went to my Aunts house near me and filled myself up with spiral cut ham and other assorted edibles! From there we headed to Whitestone in Queens to visit the GF's fam which was ejoyable. Got home around 9ish planted myself on the couch watched my shows and ate a bowl of strawberries!! It was a nice Easter Sunday and I hope everyone else here enjoyed their weekend!
JBlack151 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Cleaned up the SS a little before detailing a Ford Escape most of the day Saturday. Saturday night went out with the boys for a "fairwell" send off for our friend who was visiting from Greece for the past 3 months. Came home at 5 am Sunday and slept a little before eating way too much ham and lamb with family all day! Weather was absolutely perfect all weekend here.
matts88yj Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Started at 10am on Saturday on my full correction on the G8. Worked until 9pm that night. Sunday worked on it from 10am-1pm. Had some lunch around then and then touched it back up from 3-4pm. She is now in full show stopper status.

Nothing better than a shiny black car.

I WAS amazed how well the car came through the winter though. Mild winters ROCK! lol Chris

Z71_Denali Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Jason, my monday was much like your weekend! checked the weather, 10% chance of rain, partly cloudy all day. spent 2 hours strip washing my truck, took an hour break, spent another 2 hours with the clay bar on the paint and windows, took a 30 minute break, spent an hour with Revive since the paint was in great shape (white FTW!), 15 minute break, laid down a coat of MSS, and half way through the cure time it starts to drizzle!!! i'm pretty sure it didn't ruin anything since the water was beading like crazy, but i'm gunna WW it after work and apply another coat just to be safe. lets hope when i go to do the wheels, running boards, and bumpers this evening, i get lucky!
MichiganSRT8 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 got to stay home with my moms dogs on my birthday when she went to tennessee to visit my grandparents with my sister. Did have time to switch out my OEM tails with my LED ones, and just enough for a quick wash. next weekend will be better, got tickets for the red wings playoff game sunday. Also get to rip apart my bumper and headlights for repositioning and HID fog light install, not looking forward to doing that but itl be worth it haha.
