Battling pollen

InDepthAutoDetailing

Question

So I got my truck all polished up and used the QS the week leading up to the 31st. I actually got up at 5:30am and washed the truck before the show. I applied BG and APW at the show on the 31st.

When rinsing the truck that morning I was able to pool rinse and get about 70% of the water off. My tailgate was completely dry after pool rinsing.

Fast forward to today. I washed it this afternoon but when I pool rinsed it didn't work properly. The big beads of water became tiny beads of water which ended up drying and spotting before I could dry the whole truck.

The truck sits outside 24-7 in full sun. Could pollen already have contaminated the surface?:(

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've also noticed I'm only getting about 1 1/2-2 months of beading out of the QS. Would washing more frequently help?

I love the quick sealant, easy on, easy buff and fast cure. In my use, it seems to have a longevity a little longer than the Americana. My Mazda 6, in Kona Blue, which sits outside in full sun seems to be a good test case. About two months ago I applied the Quick Sealant to the paint panels and Glass Sealant to the Glass. The beading on the paint last night is what you described and the glass is still beading like it was just sealed last week.

Still working on finding the best parameters for using the quick sealant. Don't want to use it on customer's vehicles and set expectations incorrectly for durability. Doing some tests recently on some cars that sit outside, some in shade, some full sun, 3 different colors, but all in heavy pollen areas. No results yet...

From what I've experienced from having a DD that sits outside ALL the time......

I wash EVERY chance I get after bad weather. The more/longer that dirty paint sits in the sun, the more chance you give it to contaminate the clearcoat!! So after rain or bad weather, I recommend washing ASAP!!! Also, despite being a DD, I try to get her in the shade WHENEVER POSSIBLE. Whether it be sneaking her in the Cherokee side of the garage when the wife is gone, or even just depending on where the shade in my driveway is. The more often I can keep the paint cool, the better!!

Also, my "bulletproof" protection combo is Quick Sealant, layered with Americana. And after 2-4 weeks, I reapply a fresh coat of Americana. Not only is the shine INSANE, but so is the protection, and it laaaaaaasts for me. :)

Hope this helps, my Alabama brotha!!

i only use MSS on my DD. one coat lasted me about 6 months. and its parked outside 24/7.

on the wife's car, i do BG followed by Americana. makes the metallic paint just glow! hers is parked in the garage so it doesn't see weather like the truck!
