Question

Posted

Well its time to finally start stepping up my detailing "skills". So I am looking to expand my adams inventory and get alil more serious with it.

I have currently been doing everything by hand and now looking to step to machine polishing:pc:. I never did this before so I was looking into the Adam's Starter Porter Cable 7424 XP Polisher Kit

or

Adam's Complete Porter Cable 7424 XP Polisher Kit

I was thinking the starter kit at first, but my TBSS is black and definetly has its fair share of scratches and such for it being my DD so the complete kit has the severe removal in it and I need more clay bar and such anyways. Good choice? Anything that I should add to it (revive polish?)? maybe extra pads or something?

Next question is the final step wax/sealant.. I currently just have the buttery wax because I really never had someplace to detail in the shade until I finally got access to the garage at my apartment. So i was looking into the Adam's Premium Shine kit, but have recently been seeing alot of good things from the quick sealant kit. Would the quick sealant be good for a DD?

Scott, Order the biggest kit that you can afford, the kits offer the best value & when you start using Adam's believe me you will want it all.

The Quick Sealant was designed for all the non machine users, if you go with a PC or Flex kit you would use MSW. However I still use Quick Sealant on my wheels.

Listen to this! He's absolutely correct! Maybe add a gallon of detail spray!

If you can hold off for the clinic, see both machines in action and use them it will help you make a better decision so you have no regrets. :2thumbs:

I think this is what Im going to do. My SS won't look as good as anyone else car because how bad the paint is, but I will definetly be able to make a smarter decision especially with spending that kind of money.

I need to a paint correction very badly on my ss, maybe i should hold off until the detail clinic to see what i would be getting into to step up to the flex.. I never used a machine before and dont want to cause more harm than good. i was always brought up on the hand method, but i know i can get better with a machine now.

And yes its a black 06 ss that has never got a paint correction

Black TBSS? I'd go FLEX and forego the PC all together...just going off my intimate experience in that dept.

My ears were ringing...

I agree with Mook. Step up to the FLEX and keep that black beauty shining!

I just dumped a ton of money myself on PC kit.....take my advice as another new machine user and just go with the flex.....I really wish I would have. I have a black Dodge Challenger and really wish I'd gotten the additional correction power of the flex. I'm sure that I'll eventually get there, but I don't have hour after hour to work on my vehicles and it's really going to be challenging with the PC

Me too! Take it slow and learn to use it right, and you won't regret it!

This coming from a black car owner. The PC is SO time consuming. If you want to do something other than correct, buy the Flex!

You know this is soooooo true.....I ordered the Premium kit (before the new pad change) and after the first useage - I went out and bought another $200+ dollars of more products the next day........believe me - once you see how great the products work and the quality - you wont want to use any other products.

Yea so far everything I have is Adams. Started with the shampoo last year and now Im ready to try my hand at machine.

I think I am going to add the brillant glaze and americana to my order so I can use it on my TA I just got painted in the fall since its just my nice day car.

I would go with the complete kit, you are going to use all the product anyhow. You probably don't need extra pads right away, money better spent on the 4" Focus kit for the tight areas on the TBSS. Keep us posted on progress, you will be amazed at the ease & results.

Great next step!

I love the severe swirl remover. If you are only doing your own vehicle you will probably find that you only use it a couple times for paint correction. On an ongoing basis I also use the severe swirl and haze remover with the 4" focus pads to clean water spots from windows too.

For a DD, the spray sealant is great. Though in these kits you will get the machine super sealant. The machine super sealant is a little more work to put on but I find that it does last at least a couple months longer than the spray sealant. But I use both products!

I like to use the machine super sealant when I do the full detail a couple times a year on the DD. Then I use the spray sealant when I am just doing touch ups in between full corrections or when I want to add more protection to the front of the cars (ie - during the love bug season).

Revive Polish - Though it may be labeled for hand polish use, I have come to love using this product during the last step of polishing. When using the Fine Machine Polish I will also add a couple drops of fine machine polish and on darker color cars I can see an extra layer of gloss and pop that I really like. (I also started using the Revive with the FMP when using the 4" focus pads to clean water spots from windows and created a thread recently showing the results of this).

The results you will get with using a machine are awesome!
